I'm looking for a free movie maker, I used to use Windows old version that ran on WinXP which was simple to use and straight forward. Tried their newer version and once again they turn something good into a pile of crap. Their new one sucks and its a pain in the arse, I'm looking for a basic movie maker that trims cuts and adds basic visualization like flip spin fly in that sort of thing.

And please no nasty additional crap malware spyware or any other stuff.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Friend of mind sent a free one but it had too much on it, I am only looking for a basic edit trim slot in a few basic effects. Had a look around and after checking on some that looked OK had issues like open candy no thanks.

I'll have to look around when I come home. I have a nice version of Movie Maker running on Windows 7 and I don't know what it is or where it came from! Stand by while I find my brain!

Pot Noodles, Steed, pot noodles...you gotta give 'em what they want...

I'm going to guess you may have tried this, but, if you do a Google search for "movie maker free alternative", you'll find a large number of links to peruse...

...and I really don't want pot noodles... :D

I tried two found them complicated with way too much stuff and another three sent my anti virus and anti malware into over time. And one of the two I tried stuffed me with weather app which took awhile to remove! :damn:

I am getting sick of these nasty and unwanted stuff that comes along with the download.

Ah, yes, there are those problems when you deal with freeware. Is the main difficulty you are having regarding Movie Maker is the new version? If so, perhaps you can download an older, more familiar version; try searching for "movie maker free older version"; there appears to be several places where you can still download the older flavors...

You might also consider seeking out Movie Maker forums; search for "windows movie maker forums"; like-minded individuals such as yourself may have/had the same problems and may have good workarounds or solutions...

I have looked for windows movie maker 2.6 and the sites that seem to suggest they have it are red flagged like that awful Cnet.

I did a little more digging and Movie Maker 2.6 appears to be a component in Microsoft's Windows Essentials 2012. Here is the link to the MS site:

https://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/products/other/Pages/windows-essentials-overview.aspx

This appears to be for OEM install...

Did a bit more digging (China seems to be in sight) and found this MS page for Windows Essentials 2012 with download links in various languages. I downloaded the English (UK) link and tried out the install and it appears to allow you to install Movie Maker without installing the entire pack:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/download-windows-essentials#wetabs=we2012

English (UK) link:

Hope this is of some help...

Yes if you do a custom install you can choose from the package what you want.
