Hi, have been really enjoying my time with sh3 but wanted to expand in the series. Though 4 looks like the better option from the mechanical standpoint, there is something very enchanting about being a german u-boat in 5. But of course, 5 has the infamous glitches and stability issues.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Been playing SH5 with Wolves of Steel megamod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=210703) and found it very stable and enjoyable.
I really love the UBoats though and am not really a fan of the Fleet Boats in SH4. Something about that game just didn't strike me as engaging. I think it's mostly just unfamiliarity with the area and equipment. So that why it's SH3/5 only for me!

SH4 1.5 (the final version) also includes U-Boats, and with Operation Monsun you get a campaign similar to SH3.

Hi au-boat
SH4 is a good alternative for playing the Pacific war against the Japanese. SH5 is extremely stable with the Wolves Of Steel mega mod and is highly recommended.
SH5 has a compatibility issue with Steam as there is an essential application that is not supported.
Buying the dvd version means you own it and is not expensive.

Thanks for all your guy's replies! I have made my decision, and both sh4 and sh5 are on the way, and I will be sure to get the wolves of steel mod you were talking about.
Be sure to follow THEBERBSTER's SH5 installation tutorials, there are a few little hints in them that will make the installation much easier.

Make sure you follow the directions for installation. You need to download the patch program and the two downloads to properly install the patches. These patch files modify the exe and DLL and fixes many of the bugs in the program. I assume you bought the disk or digital download. Steam kills your chance of installing the much-needed patches.

As far as I understand you can get the Gamersgate version download which can also be patched, if you canīt find a CD version.
It works with Wolves of Steel mod and all the pre requisite patches.
