Highest temperature this year so far is 27.1C in St James' Park but sadly, it was the one in central London and not the home of the TOON.
This thread may eventually be merged with that of the same name in 2015 but if so I will edit the title accordingly.
Nah that is last years thread jim out of date, got to look forward not back. :)
Bit cooler here today still nice and warm and better. Just wish would stay like that all summer that would be great.

Saw he was pretty near where I work on the photos on FB :yep:
Last week it wasn't so bad but the weekend it was on and off if you stick to the coast like this morning the water nearly reached my shop and now it's full sunshine, the weather is pretty drunk I'd say but the countryside saw some serious pouring and the rest of the week doesn't look good up untill thursday/friday.
but we need the water for our watersupply so you can have the sunshine for the rest of the week and then kindly return it if you please :D
Getting some falling water here. Wouldn't be surprised if some electro-static discharges followed later this evening. :hmmm:

Taken from Afrikaans, a rooinek is an English speaking South African, usually of British decent. The name literally means "red-neck" and comes from the sun burnt necks of the British Army soldiers who wore pith helmets on campaign in South Africa. The helmets often did not afford enough protection from the sun which resulted in the sun burn. The term is usually used as an insult.http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rooinek
Err right..
A. You are a South African
B. you burn in sunlight
Well, less of A and more of B, I'm British and I cope as well with the sun as the old British troops did in South Africa in the early 1900s. :O:

Yup. Along with 'blood rain'! Which isn't quite what it sounds like, so the northerners don't get free black pudding ingredients, unfortunately. Apparently it's dust from the Sahara, washed out in the downpour. Which makes me wonder whether the sore throat I've had for the last few days is down to the same thing. I know it's not the UK, but in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, it is currently 105 degrees F, or 40.56 degrees C. In the part of town where I live it's a cool 98F, or 36.67C.
Of course that's data from local home weather stations, which may or may not be accurate, and if so are only for that specific location. According to the National Weather Bureau it's only 94/34 in Salt Lake City, while in Needles, California, which is in Death Valley, it's currently 111/43.9. :dead:

One thing Steve you have dry heat which is better to cope with. Poor old UK has moist heat that knocks you for six, some of my friends said last weekend bring it on thumbing it up now they are some what cranky with lack of sleep and moaning how hot it is.
One cooler day here in the low 70's but looks like its on the rise again. Only checked Fri/Sat don't know about Sunday yet.

That's very true. Back in the '80s, when I was in the tourist business, I once had a visitor ask how hot it was. I replied that I wasn't sure, but I had just seen a sign in front of a bank claiming it was 101 degrees, but that the humidity was likely only around 15%. He said "Really? I'm from Georgia, and when it's 80 and 80 there it feels a lot worse than this!"
Looks like another three day hot spell here but not as hot. Feels real muggy which I do not like, next week looks a little cooler and with luck fresher.
Dry bright muggy day here today.
Very hot here wall to wall sunshine and very muggy today.

Bloody hell some crazy weather forecaster not Met Office said we could see over 100f all next week. He believes the other forecasters may have got it wrong and they seem to be back tracking. Well I just nipped on the Met Office site checked my area for next week and there is no sign of the magic 100f.
As for today repeat on yesterday with a lot more cloud.

Looks like the Met Office has downgraded their mini heatwave here to peak at 80f on Tuesday. A lot of hot air coming in from France, the French must be getting upset again and time for more strikes and the odd riot.
