View Full Version : Time compression method

In the ever reaching out to realism, I want to share my method of making each second count in SH3. I don't believe in using more than 128 TC. And I hate patrolling the ocean aimlessly, only to later realize several in game days have gone by with out realizing it.

What I like to do is track the hours of off time I don't play SH3. So let's say 24 hours go by.

I consider this 24 hours of game time I get to play with. Once I hit the 24th hour of game time, I can only use 1TC!

Why do I do this? It makes me think about each move I make in SH3. It also makes me think about using TC!

It's a way to strategize and make better decisions, and making smarter patrol methods

Do I really want to burn up 24 hours of in game time in less than 10 minutes in a high TC? Or do I want to save it hunting down a single merchant?

Just something to consider.

Intersting approach.

I'm currently starting a SH5 patrol. And this time I do it more from a role-playing perspective. That means I write ship logs and post them in my game-community forum.
I also try stick to sleeping times, as far as real-navigation allows it. That means I try to go to my bunk, and compress time for the hours I sleep without doing anything. Not even checking the maps (once again only if real-navigation isn't in danger).

So IIUC, your patrol is as long as in RL ? If you patrol during one month, it lasts one month in RL ?

if I don't play for awhile, I can time compress most of the game.

And yes, back in the day It had taken a month to play a month! That's serious gaming!

Just remember it's all how you like it... You can make it 2 hours for everyone if you like it!
