Can not initialize 3d engine

Excuse me if this has been posted or responded to in another post.

But when I attempt to start SH5, a popup comes up and states "Can not initialize 3D Engine" and then closes everything relating to the game.

Can someone help me out? I'm eager to start playing again.

This seems like a gpu problem.
Check that your graphic drivers are up to date as this is most likely problem if you have already been playing other SH versions.

In the Control Panel check your gpu settings.
Nvidia gpu
Select a scaling mode: select Aspect ratio
Perform scaling on: select GPU
Click on the button APPLY to activate the new settings.

AMD Radeon gpu
Enable GPU scaling (if existent)
Choose Maintain aspect ratio (if existent) or Scale image to full panel size
Click on the button APPLY to activate the new settings.

Install the game directx if u don't install that dx u get the error
