Hi Guys, I ve been playing SH3 and 4 for years since they came out and SH3 I still find the best sub sim out there.

I bought SH5 gold when it first came out and had only played it for about 2 days before giving up, no hot keys, having to walk around etc, its as if they have tried to ruin a perfectly good format of SH3 rather than evolve it.

Several years later and a new PC I decided to come back and give it another go, and still frustrated. 1st mission followed instructions, sank ships, found I was stuck in periscope view, couldn't dive ascrew on deck etc etc etc , so frustrating, I,ve looked at the mods etc but before I go down that route is it worth it????

Hotkeys would be a good start but any key tips would be great and appreciated. I,m a long member and donator as I love whats been done on 3 and 4 but really want to make 5 work.

All of the things you ask for are available. Check out 'The Wolves of Steel' in the SHV Mods Workshop section.

It's funny you should mention having to walk around, as not being able to walk through the entire sub. was one of the big complaints about earlier versions. There is a mod for SH3 that recreates the entire interior of the boat, and some of us welcomed it because teleporting just didn't feel right to us. On the other hand I use the mod for GWX that makes you wait while the locks open before going through the canals. This is an integral part of LSH3, and was taken from that supermod.

Still everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and there is a mod that lets you teleport in SH5. I'm betting Wolves of Steel has such a function.

As for me, I tried SH5 and despite how good it looks I won't play it again until I can take a Type II out on coastal patrols, which probably means never. It's SH3 for me all the way.
