Hi there,
I've been playing SH3 and 4 for a while, and I'm wondering about trying out 5 with some mods. From what I've been looking at, the thing is broken without some updates from the community and is now mostly abandoned.

Being somewhat of a masochist I decided to try and get this working (also no proper widescreen support for SH3 is starting to annoy me).

Been looking at SH5 + Wolves of Steel mod with a lot of interest. Thing is, none of this stuff works with the Steam version, right? And with that awful Uplay DRM, I'd need to find a new boxed copy somewhere?

A boxed copy is the easiest way of getting a version that you can mod / add mods to. I'm not sure that would even be possible on the Steam version.

The dvd SH5 version is reasonably priced on Amazon and preferred to a download as you own it.
The Steam download version is not compatible with TDW's Generic File Patcher

I got my copy from Gamersgate. Which is an alternative to stream, from what I've seen if it's on for cheap on steam it will be the same there. It isn't a steam code either so it Is compatable with the file patcher.
I can't recommend TWOS highly enough. I've only dipped my toe in, but to get a hit on a target you have tracked with the 4 bearing and manual tdc is right up there.
Tutorials in TWOS are epic.

Community is top banana too.

Hi jospanner,

I had the same dilemma a few days ago - played SH3/4 extensively. Purchased SH5 and installed TWOS, but I can't get into it. I'm not sure why because I really want to love the mod - they've done a great job with it. Maybe I'm just old-school, because I've been playing Aces of the Deep lately....ha!

In any case, I think I spent $10 on Amazon to download it. For the price of a couple coffees (or one from Starbux), it's worth it.
