View Full Version : How to change the Stations UI to English?

Hi all!
I have a problem which may have an easy fix that I haven't found yet.
In the various stations, the interfaces are all in German, which is great for immersion purposes I guess but for someone who has not learned the UI in much detail yet this is confusing.
Is there a way to change the language to English?
Everything else is in English and under "Options" everything is set to English (other than voices!) so I do not know where this has come from.
I have GWX 3 installed and a couple of Sound & Graphic mods, but nothing I am aware of that changes the language.
Can someone help me? have you had this problem and how did you get around it?.
Thank you for your time.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure you weren't accidentally using the mod that changes all the instruments to German. You're not, so I'm not sure what's causing that to happen. As far as I know it's all in English. I'll keep looking, hoping that someone has an idea.

I guess for now I will have to learn a little German! :know:
From an immersion point of view though, it is fantastic! most things are pretty obvious so it is probably just a matter of experimentation! :haha:
(Sorry for the huge space, every time I delete it, it puts it back!)

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't really want to reinstall to see if that fixes it somehow and learning German is a little harder than i thought! :)

I'm still trying to figure out what it could be. As far as I know, English is the default language for the panel labels.

Thanks for looking into it for me, the only thing I can think of is that it installed originally using German language, but surely then the whole game would be in German? and I don't recall that happening as I have no reason to do so (though it was some time ago).
I don't really want to reinstall just to see if that is the problem as I would need to reinstall all my mods (and I vaguely remember GWX taking a while!).
For now it is a mystery and I have resigned myself to making good use of Google Translate until I can remember the labels! :)

It may seem confusing for now, but after you play the game for awhile, you'll get used to the authentic UI...

I can't start the game right now, but isn't there an option in the main menue or ingame (F1?) to switch between languages for voices and menue/dials etc? Settings or something?
And if not - one may exchange the (C:\GAMES)\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\de_me nu.txt with the en_menu.txt to get the English version.
(rename the en_menu.txt to de_menu.txt and troll the game to have the UI in English)
Give it a try.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I have kind of gotten used to it now! :)
It adds a whole new level of immersion, now if only i can find out where it came from!!
