Anything other than Steam is ok.
Dvd would be the preferred choice.

OK I read this after I bought the steam version ON the steam forums, but lucky I was still eligible for a refund, I heard someone talking about the pirate version, I have that too, but I tried to upgrade it an NO dice, I have no problem with getting this on a site gamersGate for the same price I got it on steam, $9.99 is this the only way mods will ever work?

It is the best way, since most of the mods were created around the DVD version.

i don't suggest to buy the steam version of the game ..... u will end up having problem to use tdw's generic patcher which one is really important cos fix 95% of the game bugs ......u can use all mods with the steam version of the game there is no problem at all the problem comes when u wanna use the patcher as i have said above.....

better buy the download version from amazon or dvd version.... they are not expensive at all around 10 Euro i have no clue how much cost in RO.

I use the Steam version and once you get over the pain of creating your own non-Steam sh5.exe which you need for the patcher, you are in the same situation as anyone else I think.
