So, who else has pre-ordered the game and what are your impressions so far for the beta?
I've only played SP, so my experiences only relate to skirmish. I have also never played the TT, though I checked couple (about 6) videos of it being played and I think Tindalos did a great job with BFG:A.
I won't go in great detail about it, as I find myself then explaining the whole dang game, but if the concept is new to you: think of sail ship combat. Broadsides, maneuvering to get the most out of your guns, boarding, then add in WH40K and space. That's BFG:A
Currently, there are 3 factions in the beta: Imperial Navy, Chaos and Orkz (Eldar being the 4th on release, Space Marines the 5th after release).
Every faction is different. Imperial Navy being the middle-ground, Chaos being more of a long range hit & run one and Orkz being... well.. Orkz.. resilient ships that excel at playing bumper cars with the enemy ships.
There are 2 main classes of ships; your escorts (destroyers, frigates etc.) and your line ships (light cruiser -> Battleship). Escorts are cheap and non-unique, while your line ships are the ones you get to customize by changing stats, picking skills, renaming them etc.
Only three missions of the campaign (tutorial) are available in beta, so I cannot say much about it, it does however sound interesting.
Here's couple of vids that explain it perhaps a bit better than I can.
