hi, recently reinstalled sh4, running fotrs 1.3 EN.

1) i managed to download FOTRS v2.0 but they are in german language only. does anyone has an english version for 2.0?

2) what is the 'safe depth' or distance to start reloading torps? i found a forum thread stating that all the playable US subs has much higher dive depth as opposed to the factory test depth in game so i took the liberty to made the changes accordingly. so my subs can now dive like never before lol.

3) does the 'depth under keel' ping cause destroyers to notice your presence? sometime i wander into shallow water and forgot to test this before engaging and end up wondering how deep can i go after causing a ruckus..

4) i noticed alot of ships added by the FOTRS add on does not have those gaping holes in their hull after getting torps as opposed to some original ships. is there a way to add those in myself? if you know how please show me, i will add those in to each of them slowly.

I don't use FOTRS, but the following questions and answers should apply to all versions of the game.

It's true in real life, but I'm not sure how the game handles maximum depth. One source I read long ago claimed that the later fleet boats were good down to twice the listed test depth, and specifically mentioned the Balaos as being safe to 900 feet. I only wish I could remember which one it was.

As for reloading torpedoes, the game lets you do something they never would in real life - handle more than a ton of steel and explosives at steep dive angles. They would fire the full load if possible, then break off the attack and wait until they were sure they weren't likely to be attacked before reloading.

No, absolutely not. I don't think they even react to your active sonar, but I know they can't hear the depth ping. This is wrong, but it's also true.
