Ok, I am officially stumped. I was recently playing around with Op Monsun. I decided that I wanted to go back to the Fleet Boats and put my mod list back together. The issue I am now having is that I start a new campaign in my Narwhal class out of Pearl. The game fails to load and I have errors that include the "volumetric fog missing" and whatnot. Single missions have worked fine. I think I have my mods mixed up since it has been quite a while since I last played. Help would be nice.
Mod List in order:
TMO 2.5
RSRD_TMO_V502
ISP 2.6
Traveller mod v 2.6
I think the issue lies with ISP, but this was my list (more or less) prior to playing OM.
Edit: Finally found my file with the readme for Traveller's mod. Looks like my list is in the wrong order. Will try again and update if I have another failure.

I think you might be right, I don't think ISP is compatible with OM. I could be wrong about that though.

Ok, just got done with another 3 tests. I have limited my mod list to TMO and RSRD. Each time I try to start a new career in my Narwhal out of Pearl, keep getting CTD's. Short of reinstalling the whole game I am at a loss. I did not have this issue last month. :nope:
Mod list now...
TMO 2.5
RSRD

Just a quick question. Are you using the same install for both Operation Monsoon and TMO? In other words using the same install just switching out the mods with the JSGME.

Yes. I used the install that I was running TMO on for the last 4 years. I'm guessing that I probably shouldn't have done that? :hmmm:

A good possibility you corrupted the game files. Reinstalling is the easiest way to fix it. In the future, when you mod, create a backup file of the original game files. That way, if it happens again, you just need to replace the files to original instead of a complete reinstall.

fireftr18 has the right of it. However, there is another way to do it also. First, uninstall then reinstall SH4 and leave it separate this time.
Now, you need a small utility called MultiSH4 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1110). This allows you to make separate installs for each mod which eliminates the mod soup that fireftr18 was talking about.
What you do is this:
1. Create two separate folders. Label one OM and the other TMO
2. Copy the original game files from the SH4 folder into each of the two folders (OM and TMO).
3. Load the JSGME and MultiSH4 into each of the folders.
4. Use MultiSH4 to create save folders for each OM and TMO.
What MultiSH4 does is create a save folder for each mod in your My Documents folder. That way they are totally separate and you won't get the mod soup with which your struggling now.

Ah, I get what yall are saying. It's a shame that I have to reinstall... I had a good career going and was almost to end of war. :wah: Gotta learn from mistakes sometimes. I will reinstall and advise of any other issues. Thanks for the help!

Ok, still having issues. I think I have narrowed it to my video driver. Now that I think of it, I didn't have any issues until I installed Red Orchestra and updated my AMD drivers. Will try messing with my video card and see what happens.
Edit: No luck. The only ting different is that the game loads, and I can get into a mission. But I have a predominantly white screen with outlines of the HUD. When I open pause menu return to the main menu it then CTDs. I have to take a break from this for a while.

What video card are you currently using?

You mentioned that you are at the end of a career. Your saves might be the issue. If you overwrite saves, then the save files will eventually become corrupted. During a career, every save needs to be in a separate file. Try starting a new career and see what happens.

The video card I use is an AMD series. I am pretty computer savvy, and until this past week, I have never had an issue. I did a complete wipe of everything SH4 related on my computer and reinstalled several times. When I start my game everything works as expected until I start a mission. I get a white screen with outlines of where the menu bars are at. The only thing I can think of is that when updating my Raptr account, my video driver updated to DirectX11. I wish I could give you guys more information about it. I will try to get a picture uploaded.

Make sure the Directx driver that came with SH4 is installed. For some reason, SH4 only works with its own Directx driver.

That might very well be the issue. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks again guys for the help, I know I haven't been up to par on the information side!

When you reinstalled did you delete the SH4 folder from your D drive? That's where the saved games are stored, and they will corrupt a new install.
Also, it's a good idea to clean the registry of anything SH4-related.

Alright guys, here is the latest of my file diving adventures. DirectX has been installed from SH4's file. I started the game stock and it worked fine. I then loaded up TMO and low and behold, there is the issue again. I'm guessing that when I re-downloaded TMO, the file was corrupted. Can't believe it took me this long to figure it out.

VICTORY IS MINE!!!! :woot: :Kaleun_Party:
I re-installed DirectX from the SH4 folder and re-downloaded TMO and installed it with JSGME (as usual). It worked this time.
I can't thank you guys enough for helping with this issue.

this is the best way.
create a clean new install with no mods, then make a backup cop of the "data" folder and save it on a disk so if ever you have more game corruptions you can just delete, then replace, the entire game files and its a lot quicker then reinstalls.
one final note is if you are having corruption issues, uninstall all mods, then move all mods out of jsgme, then delete the jsgme "MODS" folder to remove the hidden files that store the file memory system which is often the part that gets corrupted.

Thank you Webster, I will need to remember that one. Aside from the occasional CTD, SH4 has run pretty smooth over the last day.

Thank you Webster, I will need to remember that one. Aside from the occasional CTD, SH4 has run pretty smooth over the last day.
also I seam to remember there used to be issues with uninstalling OM properly, not sure if it was an early version jsgme thing that may have been fixed in later versions or if it was something about the sheer size and scope of the changes made.
what I suggest you do is, after you reinstall the game, create different games installs for OM, TMO, and regular using the multi sh4 tool, so you can set up those games the way you like and just play the version you feel like playing without needing to swap mods around
since I am used to dealing with computer files and understand pathways, I didn't even bother with the tool, I just copied 3 copies of the sh4 folder, then I renamed them SH4 TMO, SH4 GFO, SH4 Stock, then each one you have to right click to copy and send its own exe to desktop and rename it accordingly as well as the same for the jsgme folder for that version. the key is each has to have its own new links so the pathways match so you add or remove mods from the correct game version you want to change.
