Hi,

Apologies but i could not find this topic anywhere else on this forum so have had to open a new topic of my own.

i have recently purchased SH3 on Steam and i used S3F to copy my game into a different folder on my hard drive ready for modding. I then applied the NO DVD rld-sh14 patch from gamecopyworld to my new version and now when i load the game i just and go into a mission, career or any active game it just loads in to a black screen saying the game is paused and i no background is visible. the control panel on the side of the screen is still there and i can click on it but it doesnt change the black screen in the background which just stays saying 'game saved'. And yes i have tried unsaving the game! no matter which station i click on the background just stays black.

all the in game menus seem to work in just when you get 'into the action' of a mission it goes wrong.

i know it is to do with the NO DVD rld-sh14 as the game worked fine before i applied it. has anyone else encountered this problem?

if i can get this working then i will then install the gwx mod.

thanks in advance for any help.

That patch is for older DVD copies of SH3. If you bought it from Steam you already have a version with no DVD. You don't need or want that patch.

I actually just managed to make it work by simply applying the gwx mod to my steam install and it works! All along i thought it would give me issues but it turns out to be the simplest solution.

However i have not discovered another issue. i cant seem to apply the h.sie patch to my steam install. when i click on the h.sie patch icon in S3F it just crashes out my S3F to desktop and when i re-load it no patching has taken place.

Does anyone know a way around this? to be honest im happy playing with the gwx gold mod on my v1.4b steam version but if the patch fixes some bugs then im better off trying to find a way to install it.

as always your help is much appreciated.

You are completely right. All this time my mistake was not to run S3F in administrator mode. I just assumed that because it was loading up ok then that vital step didnt matter.

Thank you for your patience and for pointing me to the correct place to solve my problems. Your work is really appreciated.
