This game is like a mistress that I just can't leave alone. Downloading right now from amazon after a 2 year hiatus. My laptop crashed about 6 months ago and I built a monster desktop specifically to play DCS World. Well, I then proceeded to get KSP, Spintires, Naval Action, Homeworld Remastered, Sins of a Solar Empire, Cities: Skylines, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and some other things... I don't remember everything. I am finding myself downloading this damn game again from amazon. I am an avid gamer, but to hell if this is the one game to which I always come back. Planning on TMO, RSRDC, and ISE. Excellent job to all that have done so much work to mod this game. It has been made into such a sweet gem of a classic now. Download can't happen soon enough. If any of you have any more suggestions for mods, let me know. Thanks for everything. :salute:

PS, this also stems from my recent, utter failure at trying to run crossfire in said other games, mainly dcs and ets2. :/\\!!

This is a game whose quality overrules its faults and which has aged incredibly well. I think the only major problem is the amount of time it sucks out of your life!:D:D

I agree. I originally had the first in the Silent Hunter series and never did care for the graphics. But the combination of fast action at times along with the strategic mindset was addictive. So, I came looking for a new version. This is not a sim for the low IQ gamer. It requires thinking, planning, dead reckoning, strategy and then, fast paced almost panic conditions in order to avoid sudden death when things go awry. It even makes geometry fun. LOL What's NOT to love?

One of the little silly things I like to do is just let the sim run in non-compressed time when I'm near a home port. I like to go up on deck and look around at the scenery. I love the sound of the seagulls and waves. It's fun to watch the other ships and airplanes go by. My monitor is absolutely HUGE and so, I can just set the sim to running in the background while I straighten up my desk or practice the guitar. I can watch it from completely across the room and see perfectly what's going on. I find myself daydreaming like I did when I was a kid.

I know. ....it's silly. :haha:

I think that that is a problem with just about ANY good video game. RIGHT?

I suppose that's why it helps if one doesn't have a life, like me. :haha: :har:

I have loved the game since it came out. It was actually kind of fun to see the kinks get fixed. Ducimus made the game really playable and I can't thank him enough for TMO. He helped me many times as I learned how to MOD the game.

Work got me away from the game for a while too much travel, too many things to do and major technological changes in the industry that I needed to convey to the guys in the trenches.

I finally retired a few months ago and now I am back to the game. I live in Florida and often play it in my screen room overlooking a small lake that adds to the nautical ambience.

It's 24 OCT 44 and I am sitting in the San Bernadino Straights waiting for Kurita.

Has Halsey pulled out yet? Because if he has already, it will be completely up to YOU to win this engagement. Can you do it with just the one sub/ :yeah:

I took out one Yamato class BB in the Sibuyan Sea as the went in. Got the second one in the San Bernadino Straight as they came back from the engagement with Taffy 3. Winged a Maya class CA, but ran out of fish before I could finish him. I'm driving a Tench.

Nice shootin, my friend. Save something for the rest of us. :haha:

I wish I knew something about how to develop sims such as these. I think it would be very interesting to develop a sim whereby we are piloting destroyers tasked with protecting the convoys. I would love to get an idea of the mindset from that perspective.

...OR... maybe piloting a PBY Catalina in search of submarines. Hmmmm....:hmmm:

Planning on TMO, RSRDC, and ISE.

Hi shake307,

I'm also just about to start a new career but have paused it until I'm happy with my mod order. I have TMO, RSRD and a few smaller mods. Although ISE is ready for activating in JSGME, I'm sure I've read somewhere that it can cause CDT's with the mega mods?? Let me know if you encounter any problems?

Hi shake307,

Well after starting a new career with TMO and ISE, and after a month I've just finished patrol 5 with no CTD's caused by the two mods together. I have encountered CTD's with entering harbours (it is warned about this in the read me file so I'm happy not to raid harbours - this is probably what I saw about CTD's) and taking a screen-shot when just about to sink a tanker with a coup de grace (no problem I won't take screen-shots).

However, having immense fun with SH4 (never thought I would as I prefer SH3).
