HELP PLZ: The internet connection experiences problems, and the current game...

Hi Guys,

Am new here and in a desperate attempt, I am leaving this post.

I have a major prob with SH5. I cannot run the single player campaign.

When I try to run the single campaign I am getting the following message:

"The internet connection experiences problems, and the current game session was saved. Please wait until the Internet connection is restored or press OK button to return to the main menu"

WTF!!!!!

Funny enough, I can run the 7 "historical missions". No problems on that, but I cannot run the campaign.

For the "smart ones" out there, I do have a 30mb internet connection...

I did try everything (or about)...

From un-installing Uplay to reinstalling it, from disabling the scaling on high DPI, clear cache, un-installing the game, reinstalling it... bla bla bla.... I got **** all!

I do run Windows 10. Have 32gb ram with 2 gb SSD drive and GeForce video card. So I do not think hardware is the problem either.

I have purchased the game on Steam and downloaded it. Registered the Serial on Uplay... (BTW, I am launching UPlay as Admin)

Still **** ALL!

Any idea guys? I am about to throw the towel here!

seems that u didn't read the patcher readme file ..... tdw's generic patcher doesn't support steam version of the game !

As Sjizzle recommended, I disabled Windows Firewall, Defender, and also MalwareBytes. That did not do anything. Problem is the same.

this is an old Ubisoft problem with they crapy system.....i know some players have this problem with the latest ubisoft games and how they fix it i am not allow to talk here about that kind of fixes.

If you get the error in future when you sort your game out (dvd if possible) run Uplay Offline.

this is an old Ubisoft problem with they crapy system.....i know some players have this problem with the latest ubisoft games and how they fix it i am not allow to talk here about that kind of fixes.

Same thing happened to me after adding Wolves of Steel mod
UBISOFT UPLAY digital download install (not Steam or another 3rd party installer) Add Steel Wolves mod applying the TDW's Generic patcher patches

You must update the game to v.1.2.0 and then install the TWoS mod to play the game. Without this mod you can cheerly assume that the game is UNPLAYABLE.

after installing Steel Wolves,(TWoS) mod.
Does not occur with Vanilla which led me to this post.
Of course making assumption the game already is updated through UPLAY to v.1.2.0, which would be odd if it were not.

Happily hitting ESC allows the game to continue

2- TheDarkWraith's New UI for SH5 v7.4.2 or or 7.5.0(again MUCH easier with Steel Wolves automation)
3- OSI.exe fix such s set priority or Campaign.cfg fix from OHII v2.5 -

Might be able to get away without #2, New UI; as it allows easier access around the ship, however, newbs may not find some things self evident
the Generic patcher I think is a must have.

Go ahead and play...But everytime you run in gameplay trouble you whish you had TWoS or the Sober megamod installed, :Kaleun_Wink: believe me...

Just because you can mod, start and play the SH5 game, doesn't mean you can play it well...

You may try this one, it's not perfect but its' the best you can do to get very close to stock game without 3-circle torpedo firing mode and crew/automation features:

Sorry these mods are handwork (also every 'adjusted' one), not downloadable. The Auto scripts are from TWoS to complete the NewUIs 7_5_0 ones to add new ones - without harbor pilots, for that you need to use the 'OHII harbor pilot & Kiel' installed later in my list.

In the OFEV, under XOTDC, if you disable the last option about Manual TDC, you will be able during game to switch between Auto TDC and Manual TDC. It depends what you are playing, if you always play with Manual TDC you can forget about this one and the mod above.

If you play with Auto TDC, then disable that option in the OFEV, disable 'Manual TDC' in the in-game options, plus this mod (not downloadable, sorry), it will correct the English WO message when it says 'Manual TDC OFF' or 'Auto TDC ON', these messages are wrong because inversed, I have corrected this. But it's easy to do yourself : It's in the file menu.txt. Locate the wrong message and correct it. (be sure to make a backup of menu.txt before!). Also note that in TWoS this is not necessary, Veko has already corrected this in his latest versions.


Switching from AutoTDC to Manual TDC and back is necessary in a few instances, for example if you want to identify targets. And you are more flexible during game also.

I just encountered a similar problem for the first time and was ready to say goodbye to this chest of errors, but thanks to this topic and the magical ESC. My save has loaded, let's continue playing. But every new load show me it "The internet connection experiences problems". Its a trap :)

pfft, after another successful attack and while dodging the DC I get another CTD. a reason to think about whether it’s worth continuing to fight this bugdrome...

i understand what you are saying.

kai_maximus is a fan of SH3 and so he tries to win other users over to his POV.

i think that Kai also struggles with English but then we have a lot of english-speaking users at this forum who struggle with english also. (i am cringing as i write this (lol))

i do not think that KM (the other KM) meant to attack you verbally...maybe teasing...in a good natured way. and may be the language thing got in the way.

as i advised in my previous post, sometimes we read posts with a different point-of-view than how they were written. add english-language-translation into the mix and sometimes feelings get hurt. sometimes, just letting it go is best. now, if (big if, because it does not happen often here) you are truly beset by another's post, AND the moderator does not pick up on it, send a PM to the moderator and explain how you feel. this would be better than playing mr. nasty and start-or-continue a post war.
