While suspicion and conspiracy theories have been rife in the former eastern bloc, the alleged collaboration, vehemently denied by Walesa, is the latest ammunition for the Law & Justice leadership as it portrays itself as the true savior from a corrupt ruling class.

Right about now I wouldn't trust the current Polish government if it said the sky was blue. :nope:

I suspect when sleeping with the elephant: the USSR, he may have done what was necessary as predecessor, Wojciech Witold Jaruzelskihttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/70/Wojciech_Jaruzelski.jpg/220px-Wojciech_Jaruzelski.jpg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wojciech_Jaruzelski.jpg) is sometimes considered to have done; Maria Countess Walewska famously kept Napoleon's attentions occupied when France occupied Poland.
"Although Maria was initially reluctant to become Napoleon's mistress, she was convinced to do so by the Emperor's aide, General Géraud Duroc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A9raud_Duroc) (Grand Marshal of the Palace (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Marshal_of_the_Palace)) and a number of Polish aristocrats, who hoped that she could influence the emperor to support Poland in its struggle to regain independence from Prussia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussia), the Habsburg Empire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habsburg_Empire) and the Russian Empire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Empire). In her memoirs, Maria maintained that she forced herself to get involved with Napoleon for purely patriotic reasons:
"The sacrifice was complete. It was all about harvesting fruit now, achieving this one single equivalence [convincing Napoleon to support Polish independence movement], which could excuse my debased position
Polish politics ...makes for strange 'bedfellows':O:https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ef/Maria_Walewska_by_Fran%C3%A7ois_G%C3%A9rard.PNG/220px-Maria_Walewska_by_Fran%C3%A7ois_G%C3%A9rard.PNG (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Maria_Walewska_by_Fran%C3%A7ois_G%C3%A9rard.P NG) It ain't what U know...It's who U sleep with!:yep:

Congratulations for the thoroughly-misleading thread title. The current Polish government would publish 'proof' that the moon was made of green cheese if they thought it would advance their cause.

:haha:
Poland is not a democracy anymore.
Everyone of Poland's population is now regarded as a spy, by the government.

New leader since 2015 is Beata Szydło, from the extreme right-wing "Law and order" party (NO joke), a willing vasall of nationalist Lech Kaczyński, if that name rings a bell.

Funny, just recently Walesa criticized the new Polish government for embarrassing his country in the eyes of the world and about one month later they dig out something to pin on him.:yeah:
Interesting timing isn't it?:hmm2:

Probably around the same time that they banned anyone from blaming anything that happened on the holocaust on Poland. :hmmm:

Sieg fail.

Same timing, yes.. but then they say the population is afraid of immigrants, and they therefore close the borders to protect.
