Captured ships question

Late 1939 I was cruising in a type II south of Norway but within visual range of the coast. A WEIRD convoy appeared, British Tribal class destroyer , three Norwegian small armed craft, and a Dithmarschen-class Supply Ship- which DID NOT have any flags flying. (Was this a recreation of the Altmark???)
Either way, i managed to sink the Tribal class and followed the rest to a fjord where they sat and did nothing. On my return from patrol I saw a German tug leading a Dithmarschen-class Supply Ship towards German held territory but I don't know if it was the same vessel.
Now my question is , can ships be captured ????

Not that I know of. It's possible that the Dithmarschen was actually just a stand-in for a Dale class fleet oiler, like in mods for SH5. That doesn't explain the lack of a flag or the British-Norwegian co-operation, though. What mods are you using?

ONLY the Tribal class attacked. None of the others reacted like I was an enemy (sub outline turning red)

Are you using Merchant Fleet Mod? That's the only mod I know of that actually spawns some ships without flags, and I've also seen convoys with a mix of hostile and neutral ships, most of the time there's at least one neutral.

Only other possibility is if the flagless ship took some fire at some point and lost the mast the flag flew from. Sounds like they'd come to the end of their route, who knows what mischief they got into.

Why 0 ? Do you know how much does a torpedo cost ? :timeout:

I set the renown value at 0,8 for neutrals.

Hi mates,

I received a contact report that placed a ship inside a fjord on the norwegian cost. When I arrived there, I saw a darkened ship, without flag and fired a couple AA shots (using a Type IIA) at it. Then it turned on it's searchlight and fired at my sub. I dove and waited for the light go out. I'm pretty sure it was a Dithmarschen class. What do you guys think? Should I sink it? I'm at Feb 1940.

I'd shoot. No flag is against the laws on maritime warfare and technically the Kriegsmarine should have notified you about any German covert operations in your patrol area.

Hi mate,

I shot and sunk it, and it registered as a neutral ship. Anyway, next day I received a message asking every u-boat to steer clear from the Norwegian coast. I wonder if it was a covert German operation and I (literally) blew it :hmmm:.

I know, it was just a coincidence. But was funny, anyway.

It was the Altmark incident, the GW mod lists the event as one of the scripted occurences
