Contact!!!

This has me slightly puzzled, I dive to 150 feet, go silent running to evade the DD.
I am slowly moving away getting further from it, the DD is circling a long way off and dropping depth charge, as I get further it is still circling but it can't detect me.
But I'm getting contact reports of it's bearing from my sonar man, so why doesn't the DD get my bearing from it's sonar man?
