Geez! I was just leaving Midway, when a PT boat suddenly reversed in to my sub and it blew up. I know it's a game but I felt terrible. :o:down:

lol, yep, they must have reversed to avoid something and didn't detect you.

the games AI has quite a few bugs with surface ships actions, sometimes DD will cut in front of other ships and get run over and they can even get stuck between two close points of land and will go back and forth in forward and reverse in an infinite loop

Yea, seen that, but you may see them in some traffic mods actually attacking the enemy, like RSRD, but since their torps don't work, they just use guns and get taken out rather quickly..

:haha:

...never seen that.

Ironic isn't it. In a submarine game, so many units lack operable torpedoes.

Knowing the SH AI, they probably reversed to avoid him

Of course, the AI gets better once it's trying to kill you :|

If you sink a ship and there is bit of land between you and a sub hunter (DD, DDE, whatever) they will try to come right at you. Sometimes they will run aground, but mostly they will charge the land, then back up and try again, ad infinitum. I've encountered this in both TMO 2.5 and TMO 2.5+RSRDC.

Well, if it happens with one mod, it will happen with all of them. We lack any way to change the AI's thinking.

And it's too bad. I would love to have ships and convoys that could use a sensible zig pattern; that would really make for a challenge.

I witnessed a destroyer run into a harbor and slam into the wharf where it continued and continued to try and go forward - bouncing around like it was trying to hump it or something. I saw another run aground on a finger of land sticking out into the water.
