My uncle dodged the draft by enlisting in the Air Force and got stationed in Vietnam anyway Tan Song Nhut in Saigon which got attacked during Tet in 68 but the Air Police managed to kill the VC sappers.

In a 1977 interview with High Times magazine, he told an [url=http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/nugent.asp]elaborate story about failing the physical. In 2006 he [url=http://blogs.rgj.com/factchecker/2013/08/31/ted-nugent-draft-dodging-claim-revisited/] retracted the story, saying he had made it up. Given that we only have his word for both versions, the only possible verdict can be "I don't know".

As to the Statutory Rape stories, there seem to many claims by himself and it seems to be true. Just Google it.

If joining another service to avoid the Army constitutes draft-dodging, then I guess I'm a draft-dodger too.

The funny part was that after I enlisted in the Navy one of the doctors told my ingrown toenails qualified me for a 4-F. I told him no, I'd rather not avoid service for something that trivial.

That said, Nugent seems like a highly unpleasant person.
