A question to our fellow UK foruners about umbrellas. Of course it can be for every one, but IMO, they are the lead expert in umbrellas.

So the story goes, one of my latte umbrella was a old one, that belong to a friend and tenant of my grandmother. After she went to a home, the umbrella went to my grandmother and after she pass way, I began to use it.
It was a all wood umbrella, with a steel frame and the cloth was rubberized (I think, it was not nylon tissue). Was very strong and could sustain those windy days. But it was ruined a few time ago, after an accident.
I would like to buy some good umbrella, to substitute it. Possibly a walking umbrella and strong. From time to time I go searching for a vintage one, in ebay.uk, but normally they are quite expensive.
Anyone knows online shops that I can look?

I'm intrigued and somehow unsurprised to find people looking for umbrella advice on GT.

As an inveterate forgetter/emergency purchaser of umbrellas, I can't wait to see what pops up.

PS - Mods please keep a close eye on this one.

Well, umbrellas are a topic, a general one. Of course this being in GT, it could go to:

1. food

2. politics

3. blame Obama and etc! :woot:

Ask the Bulgarians. Their umbrellas come with optional extras.

I learned to dislike umbrellas at an early age in school. Being one of the tallest persons, I was continually poked in the head by the relatively flat ones common at the time. I still don't like them and get a good laugh at the people who use them when it just looks like one drop might fall on them.

I think this thread is headed toward umbrella control::D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozeDlXeEH78 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozeDlXeEH78) http://static1.squarespace.com/static/55a11546e4b0a4ccb8b20a3c/55a115b1e4b0275b68a22301/55a115b3e4b0275b68a22396/1436620518186/?format=750w

Have you researched umbrella repair shops? There are a few here in the US.
If it is truly a great quality umbrella that has some history, it might be worth having it professionally repaired.

That's a dirty lie. I haven't been on the phone with her, I've been trying to call her. Never got through once. Well, once, but that was enough. She told me if I called her again I was in real trouble.

I keep hoping she'll pop in and tie me up. Maybe more. What I'll probably get is some guy putting me in traction for the next decade. But hope springs eternal...:D
