Hello,

I'm Having an issue with my SHIV game. Every time I try to load the last saved game I played the whole game crashes and shuts down. Is there anyway to fix this? any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you.

Difficult to know why some have this problem and doubtful you can fix the last save, maybe try a previous or your last auto save...

Some things that help.

Never save near a port or traffic, the more info the game has to save, more likely a file will get corrupt, more so if you use mods.

Don't overwrite saves, use a new save for each one, just delete old ones as they stack up.

Save in the Con

If u go a long time before a save sinking many ships, it has to save all you did, so save after one attack, not several...

You better not also have changed mods while the patrol was going on. If so, put the mod(s) back the way they were when you played the last time correctly.

the Only Mod I've installed is the U-Boat Addon mod that adds the U-Boat career. Should I reinstall it?

Did you install that before or after making that save? If after then you should loose that campaign anyway. It makes the game into a whole other version and so incompatible to older version saves.

Another Question I have is about locating a task force. My sub's home port is Pear Harbor. I think I've asked this in a previous thread however, I had other mods installed with the game and since then I had to reinstall the whole game and start from scratch. the only mod I have installed along with the patch is the U-Boat add on. would you happen to know what's the most likeliness place a Task force would normally be anchored or sail to?

Open some of the campaign files in the mission editor and you'll see their paths. But there can be a fair bit of randomness in their tracks so you can't be sure. They can make a coin toss and choose another fork in their road.

Most likely when the taskforce reaches their final waypoint it simply disappears. Which may still be outside of the harbor.

The mod was already installed when i saved I'm playing the American career.

The 'U-Boat add on' is not a mod, but rather a later version of the game. You can't really expect to change game versions OR major mods in the middle of a career, without problems. Computer programs (and games) are very finicky; if they don't have the correct information/data in the files, they often go all to pieces. Even a single key stroke, period, space, or quotation mark can crash the whole business.

Small, narrowly tailored mods, that change only sounds, appearance, or the like, can be changed out without problems, but larger and more complicated mods usually cause problems if changed at sea, or even in a career.

I wouldn't think your saves would be there if you added the Uboat additions, but as for traffic, stock traffic sucks, it's very random and spawns and despawns anywhere and not historical. Even using the ME, it uses a lot of percentages, so you never know. Install TMO or TMO with RSRD for almost perfect historical traffic.....
