I don't how many of you like playing roguelikes. Most are set in a fantasy or post-apocalyptic world.

But not Armoured Commander (http://www.armouredcommander.com/)

Hadn't time to play it much but it's fun and free...

Looks like Larry Bond's Harooon at first glance. Maybe I'll try it.

Giving this a go at the moment, first impression are of an addictive little game. It's no War Thunder with its graphics, but it's rather immersive nonetheless. The deadliest thing on paper I've faced so far has been the Panther, but thankfully after playing tag for half an hour it ran into some friendlies and got nailed. The deadliest thing in reality I've encountered has been the StuG III G, this thing knocked out my first M4 tank 'Clementine', and is currently taunting my second M4 'Avenger'.
The day started with a German counterattack following a successful push through the French countryside the day before, we took position hull down in a nearby village and our unit has so far repelled multiple German assaults, others have not been so lucky and as the fog rose in the early afternoon it became clear that our position was being flanked, we pulled back and almost immediately ran into a StuG and a MG team.
At this point things started to go wrong. The StuG killed one of the other Shermans in our unit and then moved left into a forest where it took pot shots at us, damaging the commanders periscope. The MG team was killed by our supporting units, but while Avenger was backing up to get into a better position to attack the StuG, it became bogged down. The StuG broke cover and moved forward, so we engaged again, one shot was a solid hit but no damage was done, the second shot missed and then the main gun broke, then...just to add the cherry on the cake, we threw a track while trying to get out of our bogged down position.
So now the StuG has positioned itself to our rear and we have no main gun and we're bogged down.
Oh, and an unknown tank has just been spotted at 8 o clock.
It's a Panzer IV H

We managed to kill the Panzer IV H, the StuG was taken out by a friendly unit, as was another MG team that was flailing around nearby...then another Panzer IV H appeared at 12 o clock, we fired, hit and killed it! No more units emerged after that.

That was a tense fight! We killed 3 infantry squads, a StuG and two Panzer IVs for the loss of one Sherman and two infantry squads.

Avengers luck ran out on the 3rd August 1944, South-west of Rennes. We'd already lost our driver to splinters from artillery fire hitting him through his open hatch, our replacement driver was just getting settled in when we ran into an anti-tank gun and an unidentified tank in a village at 11:00am, the AT gun hit our turret and the tank brewed up killing the whole crew.
