Patch 1.5

I've had to uninstall and reinstall steam and the all the games with it, however SH4 and the Uboat extension only have the 1.3 patch, despite the later being the main way to get the 1.5 patch.
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

I would recheck your game.

The U-boat add on is the v1.5 patch. If you only have the 1.3 version of the game, there will be no U-boat missions.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the steam version reads 1.3 even though it's actually 1.5. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Ah, here's a way for you to confirm. In the patch notes for 1.4, there is this item "Screenshot names now contain the date they were taken on".

Take a screenshot with control+f11 (not the system built into steam but the one built into the game) and look into the game's install directory to find your screenshot.

If the file name looks something like "SH4Img@2015-12-12_02.43.50_345.bmp", then you are not running 1.3. I don't remember what the file name format was for pre-1.4 versions and I'm not going to install a fresh copy of the game just to find out.

This is why Steam downloads should never be considered as a reputable source. The fact that they expect you to purchase the first SH4 download for $9.99....an unforeseen version 1.3 (which is a terrible version of the game). Then offer the U-Boat Missions Add-on (version 1.5) at an additional $9.99 cost is just plain thievery.

Buy a DVD Disk "Gold Edition" v1.5 from someplace like iNetVideo (http://www.inetvideo.com/products/silent-hunter-iv-wolves-of-the-pacific-gold-edition-pc) for less than the Steam price and thumb your nose at a download.

Yeah man, I'm hardly steams most ardent defender, but that's pure bull****. Steam is providing a download service for the files that ubisoft provided them with via store listings defined by ubisoft. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want to point fingers, the blame on this one rests squarely on ubisoft, who, as we all know is *certainly* the most ethical company around.

I've been very happy with my SH4 U-Boat Add-on digital purchase from Amazon (this, of course, is the SH4 version 1.5). I did the digital purchase in June 2014 and this is remembered by Amazon in my account under Games and Software Library. Thus, when I do a complete delete of SH4 from my computer, I can reload the game using my game disk to install SH4 and then download the U-Boat Add-on and install that too. The downloaded software is only available for install on my computer for about 24 hours. After that, the download is still on my computer but I cannot install it to SH4. But, that doesn't matter because Amazon remembers my purchase and allows me to download it as much as I want. Since June 2014 I have completely deleted SH4 several times and got SH4 + U-Boat Add-on up and running again within an hour.

Its finally decided to work again after 3 uninstall and reinstall session. Got the Uboat missions, 1.5 patch everything. Finally I can sink some more carriers:D

The SH4 U-Boat Add-On IS the 1.5 patch. They are one and the same. I recommend buying it here http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hunter-Wolves-Pacific-Download/dp/B004I43FAG because you can download it again and again without further cost.
