I have made it a practice when surfaced to always put up the "loop" by hitting Shift + V and see it rise into position, but I am a bit puzzled as to what benefit this has in game [LSH2015.] What is this thing supposed to do, in real life and in game?

My radar has been useful, allowing me sometimes to pick up the scent of a convoy or lone ship, but I haven't seen any point in the game to that loop thing.

In real life it was a Radio Direction Finder that allowed you to determine the direction of a received radio signal. Useful for finding talkative merchants.:O:
In game...:06:

As far as I know it has no effect in the game. It looks cool, though.

Hi Randy

My biggest problem with it is that I should be standing where the officer is and he where I am.

I find it quite irritating when I am on the bridge so I am inclined not to use it as it has to be raised manually where as in the previous version it automatically raised when the boat surfaced.

if I remember it was in in SH3 not in GWX.
I get a masage that an radiosignal was recieved
and on the map was a red line that pointed in de direction .

Mayby it is gone in GWX.

According to the LSH3 v5.1 Mini Manual..."This MOD adds a rotating DF antenna to all playable submarines with all types of conning towers. When the U-Boat is surfaced, you will see the DF antenna rotating above its cave. When the U-Boat is submerged, the DF antenna stands still in its slot. It is impossible to switch on/switch off the DF antenna."

I suspect that didn't change for LSH3 2015 and that the first line in the quote below from the GWX3.0 manual is still true.

According to the GWX3.0 Manual; in stock SH3..."some ship contacts represent the effects of using the radio direction finding (RDF) antenna to detect radio transmissions but the RDF does not deploy or rotate. GWX merely rotates the 3D model of the radar antenna on U-boats so equipped, and the RDF loop on all U-boats; the azimuth of the radar and RDF antennas matches the azimuth shown on the azimuth control wheel in the radio room."

Stock SH3 has the antenna always down, with the top showing just above its enclosure. GWX has the antenna up and rotating. The GWX_DFA mod by Anvart lets you raise and lower it at will using the Shift/Ctrl+V buttons. This mod in included in LSH3_2015, along with several other "Up/Down - Open/Close" mods.

I'm not sure, but I think in GWX can be set ,by S3d, radar and antena does not raising, Fubar, as it did in FUBARSVIIC med camo, i used Fubars Turm7c_1_hd.dat,radar and antena not move all the time

Well, there are some cosmetic defects ......:)overcome ...

Hi CB

Unfortunately it has to be raised manually Shift+V in the latest version of LSH3-2015.
