Hi guys,

Couple questions I hope can be answered:
1. I've ended patrol, gone out again but all the guys in one area are coloured pink/light red with 0/100; does this mean they're dead & need replacing?
2. What is the best patch needed to update/better my game & how do I go about installing it please?
Apologies if answers are elsewhere, I've checked through & nothing has been apparent on forum....
Cheers

I've answered 1.!
Just gone to my conning tower & they're all crouched down; I presume they're dead even though their status says morale at 100%?!?!

Why don't you try the GFO mod by Webster.

A lot of people like TMO 2.5 with RSRD.

If you like a lot of crew management, RFB is a good mod and also works with RSRD.

All mods can easily be installed and uninstalled with the JSGME.

Look in the forums for these mods I mentioned to learn more about them.

Thanks very much, would you explain in a bit more detail for a complete novice what the acronyms are and what the mods do please?

Each supermod thread in the SH4 Fleet Boat Mods Workshop (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom//forumdisplay.php?f=219) (example: [REL] Real Fleet Boat 2.0 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom//showthread.php?t=159709)) explain what each mod does. Usually the first post in the thread lists the changes it makes to game play.

TMO, Trigger Maru Overhauled, makes many changes and is generally considered harder. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners.

RFB, Real Fleet Boat, aims to create a historically accurate game (as much as possible).

GFO, Game Fixes Only, repairs the stock game's bugs, without making too many changes to gameplay. This is probably the easiest to start with.

All of them have their merits.

In addition to those clarified by TorpX,

RSRD - 'Run Silent Run Dep' is an attempt to recreate the actual ship and convoy movements by the Japanese - as researched by the mod creator. It changes some gameplay of any mod that it is installed over... so, my recommendation is to install it as a stand alone super mod over the stock campaign.

Most seem to like it, I don't use it.

There will not be as much shipping or capital ships to encounter - similar to the skimpy patrol results reported by many WW II Skippers.

TMO 2.5 has its own shipping - campaign layers that replace most of the stock shipping layers.

I agree, start with GFO (game fixes only) and become familiar with SH4 before trying the harder super mods.

All mods can be easily installed and uninstalled with the JSGME tool.
