Oh darn, Not sure if this is the right place to put this.
SH 4 1.5 New player.
I'm on mission number three having started at the "beginning"
41 with non cheated renown.
Was hoping to do a good job of this mission and fingers are crossed to get an upgrade in sub when I get back to base.
Now, see, I have one of these photo jobs. It's Yokohama.
I read as much as I could about it before setting off, perhaps too much.
Tales of nightmare type where folk cannot find camera button, camera does not work, got to get closer, get further away, night, day. I stopped reading and just went for it.

Here I am, 17 NM from target area. 6.5 NM SE from some place called Yokosuka.
In the mouth of the harbor there is the like of a heart shaped hole. That's where I am now. Silent, deep and parked up. In real world it's past midnight
I am tired, cold, eyeballs red as red things, and stumped.
I began when I returned home from work 1830hrs and have yet to find a way past some angry destroyers. I tried up the guts, up the left, up the right fast slow in daylight and dark. Have yet to get passed the little bas...buggers. Respawn sunk, respawn sunk, respawn sunk...and so on. Someone could loose an eye.
I must be strong now, I must away to my hammock and rest up. NOT GIVE UP. For in the morning I will try some more, maybe webster has a fly mod.
Although I will return to try again, following coffee I will turn on this machine and prepare.............I will prepare by reading lots of advice from you all on a way to get passed these little sh.... fella's
(and you can chuck in a couple of encouragements as well)
I don't care if the camera works or not, I don't know if the camera works or not, I at least know where the bloo...darn button is.
Right, see you and all your reply's in the morning.

When this happens to me, I can defeat it one of two ways.
First find out if one is a small sub hunter. Wait until the DD
gets good separation from the small boat. Make sure it is night.
Put your men on the gun, they make it load faster being there,
sound battle stations, surface and gun the hell out of the gunboat.
You shoot the gun. Your way faster and aim for the engine room.
When he goes down, dive and turn away from him as the DD is now
on the way. While the DD is looking for you, continue on and take
your picture.

The second is to simply get as close to shore as possible and still
be completely underwater. Travel dead slow with silent running and
inch your way past them.

Good luck.

Thank you Simmy
Thought I was out here by myself.
It's the next day and between doing the lawns, laundry. vacuum
I have at least made it to the next hole. I'm now 11 NM from target.
Don't know how deep water is, I'm just below surface. Power munching
on snacks and shaking. Not willing to give up. Have all set to quiet and slow.
Still getting depth charged or run over, when that happens I go back to last save point and go the other side. Although all day to make 6 NM, I have gotten closer.

Thank you for calling in

A big thank you for all the support and encouragement given over the last couple of days.
I did get the photo's and got the big grey sign. Was so relieved to get it done and out of there I quite forgot to shoot anything but for a couple of gunboats.

A message sent me off to patrol another spot, but so glad to get that done.
I know you will all be very relieved to hear.

The biggest thanks to Simmy. Cheers Bro. It was the hint to go shallow and slow that got me there along with a couple of fast burst's to get from one side of harbour to the other. Thank's for that.

You may all sleep soundly tonight and get up early in the morning and watch the rugby. Go the All Blacks.
(if your wondering who they are, look them up)

Just saw your post since I've been on a 72 hour shift here at the firehouse (gotta love paramedic's school).

For future reference, what I like to do is
1: Tell SubPac that they are crazy and not follow orders, or
2: I go for it.

My approach is slow and methodical. When you get close enough to find the DD screen, Pull up your map. Take the marker and put a mark on every "deep spot" that you see going toward the target. I like to watch the DDs to map their patrol pattern (this helps, but takes time). Once you get the patrol pattern of the DDs mapped out, start to make your move. I look for the nearest deep spot, and, once the DD has just passed it make my move ahead "slow" and silent running. It's like a sniper setting up for the shot. Watch, wait, move, shoot.

If all goes well, you will make it to the hole before he gets back to you. If you don't, put your head between your legs and give yourself a kiss goodbye! :O:

This method is one that I have found to provide the most success (about 3/5 for me!) :yeah:

You will do well as a paramedic, Yeah Bro let me help you put your head
between your legs so you can kiss something goodbye, or we can mark out a pattern to your injuries and work on a plan of attack.

Going for it is a must, give it a crack. Can't let it beat me.
I got back to home base and got a pat on the back, and a new sub.
Plus a new mission, have a guess what it is.
