Blitzkrieg,

Thank you for your very detailed instructions in the sticky threads for how to do a basic install/reinstall of the stock game. I tried earlier this evening to do it from memory [several years old now] and encountered errors. I knew enough not to start the game with the disc in the drive. I patched the game and installed the cracked files, but still no luck.

Then I read your meticulously worded instructions to the letter and then created a desktop shortcut to the patched sh3.exe file, crossed my fingers and clicked, and it worked!

I can't recall from years ago if I ever ran the 1.4 patch as admin and in XP SP2 mode, but I did this time. Anyhow, the game loads, and rather quickly since I have an SSD hard drive.

Now, on to installing Living SH3 and other bits and bobs. A hearty thank you, sir, for those instructions. I thought I was an old SH3 installer pro, but what used to work no longer does. I am glad to have read your up to date procedures.

Credit where credit is due.

I've learned from this experience that relying on my old "instincts" isn't reliable. This game has changed so much over the last few years that you can't simply take a long leave and then jump straight back in without a refresher. Reading up the new player thread is still important for even idled old salts.:salute:

Salute!

I am taking the opportunity, here, to join K-61 and also a BIG thank you to Bl!tzkr!eg for the great & very useful guides. I took the time to read it and found the answers to sort out and make a lot of things easier. Yes it is true that you cannot always "rely on old instinct" as K-61 wrote.

Merci

From me, too.

Thanks to Blitzkrieg, I have my boat on the seas now!

How can I donate for your phone-support yesterday? :haha:

Everyone should build a small u-boat shrine with little tea light candles in Blitz's honor! That's no joke. You have done great works for this game I have played since it first came out! Thank you.
