How can I run SH III on Windows 8.1 ?

I keep looking at my Silent Hunter III CD box and refuse to let it go. But I was not successful in getting it to run under Windows 8.1.

Is it possible to get it to run under this operating system? Is there a guide for computer illiterates like me?
