View Full Version : which mods fix the game bugs?

Hi.
I hope I'm posting this in the right sub-forum.

I haven't played SH5 yet, but I was told it is extremely buggy to the point of being unplayable.

Someone else told me I should use the "Sober Mega Mod Pack", because it would fix the game.

Now that I have read parts of the mod description, it seems the mod pack changes a lot of the game, which I'm not really interested in.

I don't want stuff like "more mines in harbors" or "changing the mission criteria from tonnage to date" and stuff like that.
All I want is a smoothly running version of the original game.

Are there mods that only fix bugs and if so, which ones?

Thanks in advance.

Hello T

As a newcomer to SH5 let me save you a lot of time and trouble from my experiences with SH5 over the years.
With any SH version it is about playing the game and not about spending half the time working out what works and what does not with mods etc.

Of the mega mods available this is also the easiest to set up as you can see by reading post #1 and it is extremely stable and I can highly recommend it.

Thanks for the link and the advise.

It isn't that I enjoy tinkering with a game. I am a total noob when it comes to mods and such stuff, but I have been warned by several people about the game breaking bugs in this game and I see no point in even getting started playing a game when I constantly have crashes, bugs and glitches ruin the fun.

I don't really see this as a choice.
Either the game is playable or it is not and if I need mods to make it playable, then that is what I'll try.

I'm a new to modding as well and to SH5. I too would like a simple mod to correct the bugs but wolves of steel require manual TDC. I would like to play SH5 with auto tdc.which mod would you recommend?

Hi TC

I can highly recommend the TWOS mega mod as I previously indicated.
I have done over 60 manual saves and not had any problems.
The instructions are all in post #1 of the mod and as long as these are adhered to then there is no reason why you should have problems.
If you are worried that the game will be too difficult just select a lower difficulty option when you start your new career.
You can use the add on mod for your torpedo man to identify the targets for you that is showing in my previous post.

Well, I have to give compliments to TDW UI. Its pretty much hit the nail on the head for me. Its everything Im missing from the vanilla, though I guess its mostly because Im running 100% realism (and therefore use the manual TDC).
Is it bug free? nope. some things just cant be fixed i guess.
It does (for me) give me extra satisfaction, when i calculate the right solution by myself (and hit the target), but I think the UI is just that, an UI and therefore should be playable with auto TDC.

edit. I recommend using map contacts on in the beginning, when using manual TDC. Watch a couple of youtubes, and the game become much more fun imho.

Hey guys,
just came back to SH5 myself. I didn't want manual TDC / ultra realism so i've chosen the "Schleichfahrt" mod first time. I can highly recommend it. It was quite easy to install and it includes OHII.
