I was wondering if the game takes into account weather a ship is loaded, or empty. I'm on patrol in July '42, and attacked a small modern composite freighter outside Tokyo Bay. Knowing the faults of the Mk.14 at this stage of the war, I set my torpedoes to the shallowest setting. This particular ship has a listed draft of 18', and yet the torpedoes ran under her. I know the torps ran 10-12 feet deeper than set, so if I set them to run 0-1', I should of still gotten a hit on a ship with an 18' draft. :hmmm:

If however this ship was empty, her draft would have been shallower by possibly 8'. If this is the case, I could understand the torps running under.

No, possible values for internal cargo are: freight, ammunition, fuel. I just figure that ballast is also freight.

There's more types of external cargo for eye candy reasons, though only a few ships can even have it. Also, all ships that can have external cargo, always have external cargo.



That being said, if you got that draft number from the recognition manual, be aware that not all of those numbers are correct.

AFAIK, no, the game does not do that sort of thing.

It would certainly be interesting to have the game change between loaded and unloaded ships, but I think you would have to have duel versions in the files and roster, and script them in the campaign. Quite a bit of work.

I don't claim to be 100% sure, though. Ships can spawn in port, and materialize in docks or halfway on shore. I don't understand how that happens.

I think it would be reasonable to assume that a ship would more often be loaded than not. Anyone with any logistical sense would be able to send something useful back after something useful arrived.

Is what happened to you the games way of simulating a breaching torpedo miss?
