Attacking ports at night

As I am still in the learn and trying phase I feel most comfortable attacking ship in enemy ports at night time and then slowly escaping the destroyers by traveling in periscope depth with the periscopes pulled down. Works quite well unless I surface too quickly. The downside of this is that I can only operate at night and it will take me too long to get reknown points.

is there any better way anyone can recommend me to do.

It is not advisable to enter ports and destroy shipping as it messes with the games spawning.

Also you will see peculiar actions with the destroyed ships doing all sorts of strange unnatural things.

Thanks for the info Peter. I was a little suprssed myself because when I sink ships in a ports and save the game the ships are respawned after realoding the game. Sometimes when I sink ships they seem to be going up and down. Must be some kind of a bug.

It would have been highly unlikely to be able to enter a port and sink shipping.
The problem in the game is that the escorts do not respond to what is happening.
sober in his mega mod has now put mines in the ports to deter this type of game play.
