Another interesting tidbit coming out of the Ashley Madison hack; That was probably not a woman you were hot chatting with.
Evidently, after taking the men's money, the Ashley Madison computers used automated bots to carry on conversations with the customers. There is also evidence that women were hired on a commission basis to chat up the men to keep them buying "credits" from the site.
So these jerks were not only trying to cheat on their wives/partners; they were not even talking to "real" women.. .and they had to pay money to boot.
There is something satisfying about dishonorable men trying to cheat on their women... and ending up being cheated by a dishonorable scam.
Karma
BTW, it appears that the AM servers recorded and kept the hot kinky conversations with identifying account information. So much for the service promising discretion and security.
I bet it will be embarrassing during the divorce hearings when transcripts of the hot chatting will shown and it is pointed out that it was not even a real woman. :D:D:D
I bet the judges will have fun with those cases.
Dude, you threw away everything in your life to hot chat with a bot! Was it really worth it?
I wonder how many blackmail cases have occurred that have not been reported to the police?
I honestly can't muster up too much sympathy for these dishonourable people.

Yeah, you don't need to be a elf-lord to figure that out. :O:

I heard on a radio show that a woman in Portugal who had been hired by a similar site to create fake profiles sued her employer. On the grounds that they wanted her to create several thousand fake profiles but had originally told he she needed to only create a few dozen per week.

Whilst it isn't cheating with a bot, you sign up to a site like that with the clear intention to cheat, I imagine for most people finding out that their partner was actively looking for an opportunity to cheat would be as much of a deal breaker as them actually achieving the goal.
It is hard to feel sympathy for the company or those signed up to it in this case.
However, expect this sort of thing to hit more forums, companies etc over time - if you are a passionate collector of Battlestar Galactica figures or similar, expect your dirty little secret to be outed in future.

Definitely.
In the end, there would be no difference if she did or did not do it - being a member on a page like that or doing other things to find opportunities would be just as bad.
Loyalty is not only an act it is also a virtue.
Doesn't matter how it is broken, kaputt is kaputt.
Speaking out of experience here....... :shifty:

Hasn't it gotten to the point where the guys running the site can legitimately be charged with fraud?

I suppose, but there would be a delicious irony in any lawsuit--I signed up to your site in good faith that I would get a genuine opportunity to be unfaithful to my spouse. :D
There is irony in the site's hacking as well. The hackers break into the site maliciously, and in so doing find they have an ethical problem with Ashley Madison, and then bring this up publicly claiming to have a "grievance" with the victims of their hacking.
Whudda world...whudda world.

Probably from those who know their marriage/relationship is totally destroyed because of their own actions.

You have to laugh, military background - a bit inappropriate at times (to others) but it's the tried and tested way through many tough times.
I'll get to that in a while, I'm currently learning Slovene, or more like learning just some of the difficulties in beginning to learn Slovene. It's very funny. Thanks Anze for introducing me. :D

I can speak from experience, there are real women on that site.
That's how I found out my wife was cheating.
And in my post-seperation depression, I had used it to meet a couple too.
But you go in there knowing the odds, it's obvious the ratios are way outa whack.

You are probably right, however they are pretty safe IMO, because I can't see someone getting up in open court and demanding damages because they were ripped off in their attempts to cheat on their wife - even if they won significant damages, their wife would get the cash in the ensuing divorce.
