Just edit your config file and you get 4xxxx Speed if you want :)

You can also use SH3 Commander to control time compression and a lot more with the click of a switch.

But be careful. I was once a heavy user of 1024x. But when a destroyer shows up 1000 meters away, well, you learn to cope with 256x.

I only ever use 1024x when crossing the Atlantic for Paukenschlag or headed to Asia as a Monsun boat.

In that case, you really ought to follow Sailor Steve's advice and use SH3 Commander. It is a stand-alone program. Easy to install. Lets you change a lot of things with no knowledge of the intricacies of the program. And adds depth to your career. It's a great addition to the game.

Go to .\data\cfg\main.cfg and search for the part that says:

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=4
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=8
RadioReport=1
Particles=32
PrayState=8
HunterState=32
3DRender=32
Maximum = 1024

Then decide what you want to change. I recommend:
HunterState = 64
RadioReport = 1024
EnemyDetected = 1

But everyone has his/her own preferences.
