We didn't have the internet in 1968, and Paul McCartney still isn't dead either. :O:

Very similar to getting 'Rickrolled'.
Rickrolling is an Internet meme involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up". The meme is a bait and switch; a person provides a hyperlink which is seemingly relevant to the topic at hand, but actually leads to Astley's video.
At least they're usually pretty quickly quashed in the era of rapid communication.
EDIT: Most of the time these days the first indication I get of someone famous passing away is when they start trending on twitter, and that's usually about 15-20 minutes before the BBC picks it up.

How do you know when something is trending on twitter? Does it send you an email or text?

There's a list of trending topics on the left hand side of the twitter page, you can set it by country or set it to worldwide. Usually it's full of rubbish but sometimes you'll pick stuff up before the main news does. I usually find out whenever San Fran gets an earthquake because #earthquake suddenly starts trending as everyone gets woken up and asks everyone else if they felt that. :haha:

I'm starting to wonder. He's kind of looking like a "walker" these days. Not as much as Keith Richards, but still......
