View Full Version : Any good books or websites on tonnage scores?
There are a million resources for U-boats but information on American submarine commanders and their tonnage scores seem harder to come by (other than the top 10) . Does anyone know of a good reference book or website that I can be pointed to?

Theodore Roscoe, United States Submarine Operations in World War II, Naval Institute Press, 1949.
Contains a full list of submarines and the ships they sank, with tonnage listings. It also contains the captains' names, but it is organized by sub, not by skipper. One would have to go through the list and separate out the captains' scores.
Silent Victory, by Clay Blair Jr., is much newer and may have an updated list. I don't own a copy, so I can't confirm that.

The above is taken from the appendix of a book titled Unrestricted Warefare. For further information, there are the books the fine gentleman earlier mentioned, and I know I've seen a few websites, but I cannot remember them offhand.

Both of these books are very worthwhile, and have lots of information, beyond scores and such.
