Hello,
i have Win 7 64 bit Professional edition with latest updates (despite one breaking my WLAN), and Windows Internet Explorer 11.
After one of the recent updates some weeks ago, the download manager within Internet Explorer 11 does not work anymore.
if i want to download a picture (e.g. jpg) from any website it works, however as soon as the download manager is involved (e.g. for downloading a Pdf or any program (!), the pop-up download manager at the base of the ie11 window does not react, when clicking on it with the mouse.
You can usually choose "execute/open", "save", or "save to". The buttons are there, but none of them work anymore.
I have browsed the web, and asked some friends, but no solution found.
Mozilla Firefox works without any problem.
Anyone ?

Hello Neal,
this is what it's about, ActiveX and 64bit, but there is also another problem:
When i try to open the MS "support.microsoft.com" page, it has a header, but all else below is empty:

@Catfish
Here is the page in a txt file. Hope this helps mate.
You cannot complete some downloads on the MSDN Subscriptions website
Symptoms
You cannot complete some downloads on the MSDN Subscriptions website successfully by using Windows Internet Explorer 11.
Cause
This issue can occur in Internet Explorer 11 if you have an Internet connection that cannot support browser-based downloads.
Workaround
To work around this issue, try to download the file in Internet Explorer 9 mode. To do this, follow these steps:
In Internet Explorer, open the MSDN Subscriptions download page.
In the Search box, search for the product that you want to download.
Open the Developer Tools pane. To do this, press F12.
Open the Emulation screen. To do this, press Ctrl+8.
On the Document mode list under Mode, click 9.
On the User agent string list under Mode, click Internet Explorer 9.
Note After you change the user agent string setting, the download page reloads in Internet Explorer 9 mode.
Try again to download the product. The File Transfer Manager application or another download manager should open.
After the download begins, close the Developer Tools pane. To do this, press F12 or click the Close button in the upper-right corner of the pane.
Note After the download begins, you can close the Developer Tools pane without interrupting the download progress. The browser remains in Internet Explorer 9 mode until you close this pane.
Status
Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it.

Hello,
first thanks all for your help. After trying for more than a week, i gave up and installed Win 10 yesterday. Even after a new Win 7 install, the next updates screwed up the system completely, and no installation Point was able to fix that.
Not much problems with installation of 10 despite graphic card driver (GOD!), and all looks flat and two-dimensional (is this really a new design idea?), but at least it works :shifty:
Wlan breaks off regularly, and is also much slower than before, but maybe there's a control panel somewhere in the universe.
I completely fail in seeing the logic of the start menu. is there a reason to make it that uncomfortable and unintuitive. And don't get me started with this bad Apple "Store" copy :stare:
Does anyone know how to switch off the language auto correction system, i do not find the options. (this said, all options are well hidden now, if you want to describe it positively).
Why Win 10, after all :hmmm: Win 7 worked perfectly, before those late updates. Is this a marketing idea, of planned obsolescence?

I feel for you mate, I had the misfortune to install Win10 also. Probably the worst decision I ever made. No drivers for anything Creative. The worst start panel I have ever seen, no option to pin stuff other than the bloody tiles! Anyways I digress, I uninstalled 10 and after some 3 weeks got 7 back to where I was. For those who haven't installed it as yet and don't want to, look out for update;
KB3035583
The bugger will not let you rest until 10 is installed.
A friend of mind has Win7 and has decided to stay with Win7 as he likes it and hates the look of win10.

Hello again,
will be able to use it and get used to it of course.
BUT:
Dear Mickeysoft, WHY do you do what you do? I there a company chief who decides that, or is it a bunch of developers who know nothing from each other, until the new OS is being put together, and rolled out ?
I mean, this start menu. I neber had Win 8 myself, but had to help numerous People with it, and not only i HATED it. Because it was so completely unlogical !
Win 10 Looks a bit better as a Desktop Version, but the start menu is not much better than the last. Grouped alphabetically ?!
Why not system, settings, programs ? Why THIS for god's f' sake?!
And, of course it's all pay to play, what a nice move. Programs are all apps now, like Apple. I really appreciate how you copy Apple's micropayment strategy. NOT! NOOOTTT!!!
