INVALID ARGUMENT TO DATE ENCODE

I am running a steam version of SH3 with GWX Gold and SH3 Commander is there a way to fix the above which is the message I get when I try to access/update my personal file?

This thread suggests (by JScones himself, the writer of SH3 Commander) that it is due to changing anything to your uboat (crew and upgrades) before your very first patrol. Did that happen in your case? If so, don't do that anymore. The game is buggy in that regard.

I had run an Aug 39 shakedown cruise with no upgrades etc but I will investigate manually editing the save games like JScones suggests.

Even changing the crew manifest can cause problems in the 1st patrol. Been there, done that.

It is official.
I have the same problem with Commander but I don't remember which files to edit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't want to ditch my current career for this error as it is the first career I have started after a long absence.
