G7a torpedo depth problem (solved)

Greetings,
I have encountered a depth problem with my G7a torpedo.
I set the depth for 2m (or 3m or 1m) and it goes under the ship. I let the default depth and what do you know, it hits the ship.
What gives?

Playing Hsie patch and the torpedo rule is
at least 4*windspeed/10 m depth

I believe hsie's patch also adds a non-depth reliant malfunction chance, based on the date. Even something like 20% for 1939. That malfuction is simulated by adding some 10 meters to the set depth of the torpedo.

Just an ordinary malfunction. You got unlucky.
