View Full Version : SH3 no mods question
I tried doing a search but had too many post come up, difficult to sort through them.
How is SH3 without mods? If i only wanted to add a single mod which should it be?

If you have a newer disc (2008 or later) or a new download patched to 1.4b, the game is fine, in that it is playable. If you are only to have one mod, any of the supermods (GWX, LSH, NYGM, WAC) will do. I also recommend SH3 Commander, which is not a mod but an external tool which will add as much to your campaign as one of the others does to your game.
Other than that, everything is icing on the cake. But what icing it is. I am currently running more than 60 mods. :sunny:

I actually recommend playing SH3 stock a while before modding, so you can see just how awesome the mods are!
GWX is awesome.

And look at the details of CCoM.
Or just play the game...
I play the stock version purchased online through ubisoft.com and it came patched to 1.4b already.
There are a few bugs left in the program, but I have since learned where they are and how to deal with them (or ignore them). It does not drag down my enjoyment enough that I have to mod the crap out of it.
Some gamers prefer those levels of 'realism' that are absent in the original program. So much realism that the only thing the game can't replicate is the horrible stink inside the boat and the threat of drowning with pressure hull failure. And that's fine too.
Ultimately it is a game that brings to life an historical period which would probably otherwise be forgotten. But I do know this. I could not live without my subsim!
