Ahoy everyone, I'm new here to the SubSim forums, and I thought I'd pop up from the depths to say hi to everybody.
A little about me:I've been playing submarine/navy games for a long time, the first one I can remember with any detail is Tom Clancy's SSN. Sort of sucked at it, and I didn't really get the whole submarine thing at the time, but nonetheless that was my first sub game and I did play it. The one that really got the ball rolling for me though was Silent Hunter:Commander's Edition for DOS, picked that one up in the cheap bin at Big Lots, and I got into it a whole lot more than SSN, the old diesel boats striking more of a chord with me than the modern "nukes" such as the Cheyenne from SSN, and the game and all the interviews with real WW2 skippers that came along with it inspired me to further read and learn more, and to this day I still have the game and play it on DOSBox to complement my other sub games.
Since then, I've played just about every submarine/naval game there's been out for the PC and otherwise, and I still like to putter around on top of and under the sea in cyberspace when I get the time. My favorite games so far have been the aforementioned Silent Hunter:Commanders Edition, and Silent Hunter 4:Wolves of the Pacific, although I will admit the Warship Gunner series on Playstation 2 is a bit of a guilty pleasure, not too accurate in places but man is it fun to let loose the big guns!
Anyway, a big hello from me to everybody here on the forum, and I look forward to talking subs and ships with you all more in the future.
