I have started using the Avant Browser. Everytime I log into Subsim, I get a side panel listing dozens and dozens of adware urls that have been blocked.
Can someone confirm that this is happening every time a member logs in?
richmedia and doubleclick to name but two - 2mdn.com is another

I don't use an ad blocker on Subsim and there is just the usual one ad and sometimes not even that.

Subsim runs a single, unobtrusive ad.
I know at some point in the past, it would identify some users' signatures and links as adware.
Subsim indeed has a single add - I always add it as an exception to my *******er!

ad-blocker is illegal to mention here?

OK CCIP, wont mention it :yeah:
I am waiting for Win 10 and edge to arrive in my emails, hopefully then, I can go back to IE. I suspect from what has been said this is Avant and not subsim but it is not the only site, just one of a couple. The one I cant mention does not run with avant.

I'm back, on IE11, no pop up side panels full of crud. Must be Avant, 'scuse me whilst I visit the toilet with avant.

Thanks, that is greatly appreciated.:salute:
I've always thought advertising was a great way to churn up a small revenue stream for the site--it allows you and me to have content like the forums and downloads that is partially paid for by some merchandiser. But I am picky about the format--as long as the ads were just a part of the background. I never liked pop-ups, inline videos, redirects, timed ads, and especially the new trend, where the top 1/3 of the page of covered by an ad that does not scroll away.

I noticed I had some blocked stuff in NoScript. I have ******* disabled on this site though.
I allowed those scripts and now ads are showing. :subsim:

Neil if you really do want advetised sponsorship, have a right side panel, if google ads the correspond with topics etc; so we could feasibly have submarine ads, game ads. If they were down the right hand side, they would certainly not interfere with my use of the forum. Have a look, you hopefully may turn a profit.
