Hi guys!

GWX for SH3 and WoS for SH5 were "mega" mods that were most prominently advertised as the pinnacle of achievement of the modding community for these two releases of Silent Hunter.

Can someone give me an answer what is that "magical" mega mod or soup of mods that wood take SH4 on the similar level?

Thank you!

The two you would need to look for are Trigger Maru Overhauled or Real Fleet Boat. There's also a campaign re-write called Run Silent, Run Deep.

TMO (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=132330)
RSRDC (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=123467)

I don't have a link for RFB. If you search the forum, you should be able to find something, though.

RFB is here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1467).

RSRDC can be used either with the vanilla game or with one of the two supermods, you just have to make sure you grab the correct version. Speaking of, there are probably a few patches and hotfixes for each of the supermods which you'll have to download and apply, as well.

There is also the Game Fixes Only mod (GFO, available here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1196)) which, as the name implies, focuses on fixing existing bugs while keeping the vanilla gameplay intact.

Welcome to the Pacific Theater :arrgh!:

Thank you for the quick reply! May I ask if you know what should be the correct order for those major mods or they must be run one at the time? What is "no no" combination for them? :hmmm:

TMO or RFB goes first, followed by fixes/patches for those (if any), followed by RSRDC, followed by RSRDC fixes/patches and fixes/patches for the TMO+RSRDC or RFB+RSRDC combo.

I've never checked GFO so I don't know if there's a version for RSRDC available, which also means I don't know in which order the GFO+RSRDC combo should be installed (if it's even a viable option).

Here is my mod list:

1_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2-5
TMO_Stock_Gramaphone
TMO_SubTextures_FooSkin
RSRDC_TMO_V502
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
tater's fixes TMO+RSRDC
1.5_Optical Targeting Correction 031312 for RSRDCv502
1.5_OTC for 16 to 9 Aspect Ratio RSRDCv502
Webster's Real Lifeboats Fix for v1.5
EAXsoundsim_with_WebstersManeuver_TMO
SS228 USS Drum_DrBeast_Gato FooBor's hi-res -Weathered_Patrol2
SS187 USS Sturgeon_Fooskin BLACK
Webster's Eliminate Floating Plankton
Improved Stock Environment_v3_TMO&RFB
#2 ISE Realistic Colors
3000 Yard Bearing Tool (1920x) - Gato
DrBeast's Mod Soup
#1 ISE New clouds+Waves - TMO

Optical Targeting Correction (OTC) is another must-have mod if you're using manual targeting, since it corrects a slew of incorrect mast height entries and whatnot.

I've breached download quota for today, I've managed to download and quickly tried TMO 2.5 and it works.

Now, my other concern is the general compatability of the mods, like in your list, with the 1.5 ver of the SH4 (that I possess)?

Yes, they're all for 1.5. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find mods that work for earlier versions of the game.

Thank you! Can you please also tell me if somewhere within that mod list is something that could correspond to the SH5 real navigation mod or its something that I need to add on top of all that? Basically a blank map with navigation (+ errors) that solely relys on me and my navigator when I prompt him for the updates with using celestial or dead reckoning navigation. :ping:

Thanks

Can't help you there, sorry. I've no clue.

Comparing the latest versions of TMO and RFB, what are the main differences now? Also, where does Operation Monsun fits in all that - must be separated from TMO and RFB or...?

If you are interested in celestial navigation, you might want to read THIS (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=135215&page=14&highlight=celestial+navigation).

I can't give you a detailed appraisal of TMO, but it is considered to be more difficult than RFB, as enemy sensors and crew ratings are adjusted to achieve that end. RFB was designed to maintain historical authenticity, as much as possible.

OM is for the German side of play. I can't say anything about that.
