From the way things look, there don't seem to be too many developers interested in creating hardcore naval sims these days, and I've been wondering.
Would it be within the realm of possibility to do an update/overhaul on some of the classics? I wouldn't mind playing, say, Destroyer Command with high res 16:9, perhaps updated 3D models, and better textures and such.
Maybe people who know what they're doing could even add shaders or even HDR effects.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know what you'd have to do or if it's even possible, but maybe some new .dll files, perhaps some tweaks to other files, and then some 3D and texture work would re-vivify some of these old titles.
I can do textures and 3D models and such, and I sure would like to see community updates to Sub Command, Dangerous Waters, i688, Fleet Command, Destroyer Command, and others. I miss the days of the great naval sims.
Is something like that possible with any of the old titles, or am I dreaming?
:hmmm:
