It's 88 outside right now where I am, and expected to hit 98 later today. Expecting 101 Sunday.

On the other hand the humidity is only 18%, so it's quite dry and not too bad at all.

Just heat I can handle its when you get high humidity that knocks me back. Way back in the 1990's I recall walking behind this Arab and businessman on a very very hot day and this businessman was saying great weather we were having. The Arab answer this very bad for you too much humidity bad for your health, always seem to recall that day when it hots up. :) :hmmm:

I can understand that. Back in the mid-'80s I spent my winters driving skiers to the resorts, but in the summer I drove tourists around town in a funny-looking truck dressed up to look like a train, towing open-air trailers. One day a tourist mentioned that the electric sign on a bank we had just passed said the temperature was 108 degrees. He then said he was from Alabama, and that it didn't feel that hot. When I pointed out that the humidity was likely only 15%, he said yeah, where he was from it was usually around 80 degrees and 80% humidity.

That'll kill ya.

Aktungbby

Not much sun worshipping going to happen here...the paving company arrive early Monday morning to make the rear garden maintenance free and my neighbour who has already snaffled my decking is now in the process of doing likewise with the patio area so mrs buna is now sitting in the conservatory looking at a virtual building site.

Typical builders drop their stuff make a mess and call for a tea break while they stand around scratching their arses then off down the pub and that's the last your see of them until you get on the phone. :arrgh!:

Appeared on site at 9am, asked for three cups of coffee all with milk and two sugars.

9.15 am wife says the boss would like a word with me.

Boss (by a long stretch of the imagination) "We wouldn't be able to dig up that cherry tree, it will need the services of a tree surgeon, the access from your property to our van where the materials will be offloaded is four properties away and by my reckoning the salesman has underestimated the surface area by twelve square metres."

My reply "The estimate and plan clearly states the problems you have mentioned have been vectored into the price as agreed by your company and myself."

Boss "I'll need to contact the office and have a senior manager come around."

My reply "No problem but tell them that when they arrive I'd like to be consulted in person and if they're not here within the hour you can cancel the job and tip the wife £10 for the coffees."

Fifteen minutes later the senior manager arrived, listened to his worker then said "Don't worry, the job is fine and all the issues are for us to overcome."

Didn't stop the buggas finishing early at 2pm though :shifty:

Is that customary for a contract laborer to ask for there? It would be impolite here; although the bathroom and a glass of ice water are always available by me. My own lawn in the drought has gone to dust and my patio, a hasty & shoddy install by an inept home seller when I bought 25 years ago, has come up for a refit. Might go with brick and wood chips in the back and fake grass in the front-as a few neighbors already have...At least the state of CA is passing legislation prohibiting fines against home owners who let their lawn go during the drought in violation of local city/municipal ordinances. I save the water for the raised veggie boxes. It'll be in the high 90's to 100's all week here. AC on at noon.

STEED's advice for hot weather..

Stay off your desktop PC as you know they pump out hot air.

Limit watching TV another device that lets off heat.

Stick a fan up on the window ledge at night to blow cooler air in.

Get a air conditioner they help to a point.

Drink water lots of water.

And it is getting hot in Germany, too. They predict 38 degrees Celsius (gulp) = 100,4 Fahrenheit (?) :hmmm:

I predict a century-record in scottish wine quality, for Edinburgh, southern exposure, in 2050

We seem to get weather as it was like during roman times.. more CO2 which is good for plants and harvest, as well as more water vapour clouds which would be good for the Sahara, but ... :03:

Not too bad in Aberdeen, actually. 22 C/71 F at the moment!

We've had a reasonable amount of cloud on and off for most of the week, so that's kept the temperatures in check. There's also been a fair bit of a breeze off the North Sea and we had some thunder and torrential rain in the early hours of this morning too.

Mike.

Aktungbby
07-02-15, 11:27 AM
Not so bad here either. the predicted 100+ temps did not happen yesterday so in the cool of an 89 F day I mowed the lawn...er what's left of it since we are all doing our patriotic duty in the great drought and letting the grass (:O:the lawn ya buggers) go by. It actually sprinkled during the night. Sailing is on for the morrow-extra sunblock mandatory.

We had a very nice day at the beach on Wednesday. That's it really; I avoided going in again; car is full of sand again.

We watched some scumbag's dog crap on the sand and he just grabbed a handful and chucked over it. I said I'd like to find his car and do one on the driver's seat (I could probably squeeze through the window if he'd left it open just an inch). :nope:
