View Full Version : TMO+RSRD+PE4 water texture issues (among other things).

Okay, so I acquired SH 1.5, installed Trigger Maru 2.5, installed the most recent Run Silent Run Deep TMO file (along with its patch), and put Pacific Environments 4 on top. I read extensively to ensure there would be no conflicts, and according to the mod authors' respective posts, RSRD does not affect the environment and TMO 2.5 and PE4 are compatible. But in-game, after speeding up time on long voyages, the new water textures are replaced with the vanilla textures. They work absolutely perfectly until I travel, and it's only occasionally that they revert.
Something else that could just be a part of TMO, I noticed very long periods of the exact same weather conditions. I was out for 5 weeks on patrol and the wind sat at 0 meters per second the entire time.
Another issue which may or may not be a glitch, I've been on four patrols and have not seen a single Japanese ship.
EDIT: I tested some more and sailed, while surfaced, straight into a Japanese harbor on mainland Japan and encountered a single merchant ship.
(Sorry for my excessive posting, I'm new)

Did you do a clean install. Clean means for this game ...
Uninstalling the entire game
Reinstalling after a reboot
Installing 1.5
Installing a new JSGME
Install the most current version for the mods and in the proper order.

Hold on, let me make sure I get this all correct.
Do you mean reboot my computer? I just finished reinstalling the main vanilla game, should I just delete it again, then reboot my computer?
By installing 1.5 do you mean installing the U-Boat missions pack (I'm on Steam)?
What's a JSGME?
Nevermind on JSGME, I found it out. I'm on a clean install, having followed all of your directions minus the reboot after install (already installed it when you commented). I'll update if it's fixed.
Upon activating RSRD TMO, it says, "activating this mod may have adverse effects on your game." Hopefully that doesn't mess anything up.
Well it's the exact same as it was before, though I did find 1 warship in the bay of Tokyo this time. I had to fire off a round to provoke it. Still, the water textures are glitching, and the sea lanes seem barren.
I'll just not use Pacific Environments 4. Now, I'm starting to wonder if the lowered presence of ships in enemy waters is just a TMO/RSRD thing. I have come across a few, but nowhere near as often as vanilla.

As long as a mod states its compatible with another you'll be OK adding them together, even though JSGME adds this warning. Be warned though, not all mods are compatible with each other. This warning could be a good one if the readme from the mods you're using don't state their compatible with each other. Bottom line....know what you're adding together.

Your idea of not using Pacific Environments is a good one. TMO has already modded the "environment".......adding PE4 will probably have adverse effects to TMO, and PE4.............. not giving you what either one was intended to do.
As far has RSRDC........it's historically as accurate as a ship route mod can be. It tries to follow the historical routes and provide the same shipping presence as in real life. The stock game is almost "arcade like" in this regard. Just like in real life of the period, you aren't going to find targets every couple of minutes!!

Alright, thanks man, it's good to get some confirmation on those things. Right now I'm enjoying the game immensely. I have the real CBS radio mod that plays event broadcasts on their correct dates and I just stumbled upon the Japanese fleet en route to Borneo (I got demolished). Quite exciting stuff. I've played Silent Hunter V before, but my heart isn't in the Atlantic theater. Now I just wish there was a Destroyer/Cruiser Pacific simulator.
