This is great news.

a stunning discovery that overturns decades of textbook teaching, researchers have determined that the brain is directly connected to the immune system by vessels previously thought not to exist. The discovery could have profound implications for diseases from autism to Alzheimer's to multiple sclerosis.

While still on the ambulance with the fire dept, I noticed a pattern with some of our regulars. We would get called and get to the address and the otherwise healthy patient couldn't explain (normally with intelligent, educated people), but knew something was wrong. We take them to the hospital, they do an exam and find nothing wrong. The same thing repeated 4 or 5 times over a period of weeks. Then a call comes in, we get there, and the person is obviously seriously sick. Based on this, I came up with the idea that the brain knows when something is wrong, before anything can be found. This discovery, to me, supports my idea.
Of course, I'm sure it still happens.

I know some people who, if they got sent to hospital for a brain scan, would end up getting charged a search fee!:o

In my EMT courses, they taught us that if the patient says "I think I am dying", listen to them!
