This is to announce the release of my SH4 mechanical system rules.

It is in the SH4 gameplay area of downloads HERE (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4692).

I designed this for SH4, but really, it should work just as well for SH3, and maybe others.

Now, at last, you will have a use for those polyhedral dice that have been gathering dust since your D&D days. :)

The idea was inspired by the Ted Healy System, but is more elaborate. I've been using it, and adding to it, bit by bit. Anyway, I think it is about as good as it is going to get, so here it is.

I was going to try to post it, but the post editor likes to savage my formatting, so I put it in a rtf document and uploaded it here.

All interested parties are invited to comment. :ping:

Thank God

I tried passing them out as candy during Halloween, to no avail.

I use kine to make a sanity check when the crew starts hearing that double ping

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has some lying around.

Yeah, they probably don't taste as good as they look.

Some questions on this mod:

Which subs are P,V class? British ones?
Whcih exactly are the stormy conditions? (15m/s windspeed with clear sky and no rain is storm?)
Why "General Quarters" condition is considered as a difficult one?
How exactly is my speed determined when an engine has broken down?(Does it simply mean that I cannot go at flank speed?)

Thanks.

1. 'P' class is Porpoise. 'V' class is Narwhal, Barracuda or Argonaut. These are older classes. Only Narwhal is included in game.

2. 15 m/s and severe weather 'patch' in force.

3. GQ implies being in combat, so things are done in a hurry, without regard to niceties related to safety and maintenance.

4. Losing one of four engines would mean no flank speed; top speed would be full. Losing one of two would mean top speed of standard. The game limits how well these sorts of things can be simulated.

Thanks TorpX.
The "severe weather patch" refers to ISP?

Yes.

Really though, just use common sense as to what 'severe weather' means. Waves bashing your boat about is severe, even if there are no clouds or rain.
