On occasion of the 10th anniversary of SH3 we are glad to be able to present you the "Living Silent Hunter III Edition 2015" SuperMod.

For the first time ever, the original SH3-game has been analyzed in depth and “refreshed” in all respects. The SuperMod has been developed for the last five years and comes with a balanced collection of free mods, tools and patches for the original game Silent Hunter III© of Ubisoft®.
LSH3 Edition 2015 consists of a main mod and twenty carefully matched additional mods and extensions which can be activated individually. All SH3 patches and tools necessary as of today are fully integrated. This includes 4GB patch, HSIE patch, JSGME Mod Enabler, SH3-COMMANDER and JSGME for COMMANDER, SH3-MULTICOPY and many more. Everything gets installed and configured automatically and is ready for use.

Silent Hunter III© Redesign by LSH3
Since our last supermod LSH3 V5.1 (Edition 2010) the decade-old game SH3 has been taken into a complete and profound analysis (functionality, usability, error-proneness, game content, history, graphical representation) for the first time and refreshed in every respect. Many new functions have been developed and built in all over the game as far as the game allowed it!
The new SH3 default GUI Edition 2015:
Each game view the original SH3 game user interface (GUI) has been revised individually.
Diverse views and submarine stations were supplemented and expanded with new smart features.
The result was a new (L) SH3 standard GUI 2015. The GUI is available in six variants Mod ready:

The result is the new (L)SH3 default GUI 2015. This GUI is available in six variants:
Three GUI variants for the aspect ratio 4:3 (1024x768px):
- LSH3 GUI 2015 with small and big dials (integrated into the main mod)
- LSH3 GUI 2015 with small dials
- LSH3 GUI OLC 2015 with the OLC console
Three WIDESCREEN GUI variants for the aspect ratio 16:9 (1360x768px):
- LSH3 GUI 2015 WIDESCREEN with small and big dials
- LSH3 GUI 2015 WIDESCREEN with small dials
- LSH3 GUI OLC 2015 WIDESCREEN with the OLC console
For the first time every(!) SH3 game view is optimised for wide screens when using these three GUIs!
The new main menu in LSH3 Edition 2015:
The main menu has been revised completely. Information texts and buttons were reasonable placed. Now SH3 and HSIE patch version along with the version of the supermod and the currently active GUI is shown. A new information window (with hints regarding career, single missions, multiplayer, naval academy and museum) can be displayed.
The game settings in Edition 2015:
The three game settings views (voice, sound and graphics) were redesigned. The graphics settings are set to nowadays reasonable values.
The LSH3 credits in Edition 2015:
The redesigned credits include a summary of all modders, programmers, testers and players who have significantly contributed to the creation of LSH3 Edition 2015.
A complete list of all individual mods included and the full credits will be published by Blueduck after release.
The museum in Edition 2015:
The view and selection control has been completely redesigned. Additional historically verified information were added for about 450 new game units (ships, air planes, submarines).
Technical note: On less powerful computers it can take up to 30 minutes to load the museum.
The naval academy in Edition 2015:
Views, choices and information texts have been completely revised. We recommend to complete the five individual courses to start new careers with maximum rating.
The new single mission concept in Edition 2015:
The crash-prone concept to allow playing single missions besides a career has been revised. The new Mod “LSH3-2015_SingleMissions_NoCareer-FastLoad” includes twenty-five revised historical single missions. Every mission can be played with all four submarine types in countless equipment variants depending on the year. All career related files automatically will be deactivated to allow a very quick loading of the missions.
To play single missions within LSH3 Edition 2015 with different sets of mods a separate installation is necessary. It can be created during the install or at any time with the tool SH3-MULTICOPY.
The new multiplayer (Wolfsrudel) online concept in Edition 2015:
Multiplayer mode has been revised. The new mod “LSH3-2015_OnlineMultiMissions_NoCareer-FastLoad” includes twenty-five revised historical multiplayer missions. Every mission can be played with all four submarine types in countless equipment variants depending on the year. All career related files automatically will be deactivated to allow a very quick loading of the missions. To play multiplayer missions within LSH3 Edition 2015 with different sets of mods a separate installation is necessary. It can be created during the install or at any time with the tool SH3-MULTICOPY.
For a multiplayer online connection, we recommend to use TUNNGLE. Helpful information about TUNNGLE, firewall and port settings are integrated into the game.
The submarine commanders career 1939-1945 in Edition 2015:
The re-enactment of a career of a submarine commander in World War II between 1939 and 1945 as historically correct as possible is the core of LSH3 Edition 2015.
The limited number of eight flotillas were redefined and for the first time the former submarine bases (ports) are represented geographically correct.
The test sites are used during the entire war as a starting and contact points of the submarine commanders. Additionally all game views (like flotilla selection or relocation) and graphics (like flotilla symbols) were recreated and integrated in a new overview over all flotillas with corresponding data.
The operational area has been massively expanded to Southeast Asia through the 12th flotilla and to the entire Black Sea through the new 30th (the former 30th) flotilla.
The management and equipment of submarines in Edition 2015:
The submarine management view has been completely revised. Some old display errors have been correcter or at least improved. The preview of all submarine tower combinations have been harmonised. All graphics of equipment (like machines, snorkel, batteries, hydrophones, sonar, locating and monitoring devices, decoys) were recreated and repositioned on the boat. The tower emblems of all flotillas and individual emblems were revised and partially redrawn (263 in total). Texts and technical information about the equipment has been verified and partly updated.
The management of team and awards in Edition 2015:
Both views have been completely redesigned. All award graphics were optimised or redrawn. A new information panel about the team, rank, promotions and medals was integrated.
Other career views in Edition 2015:
All the other game views (like the “career center”, “desk”, “career progress”, “patrol stats”, “submarine aces”) were systematically redesigned and further optimised for widescreen displays.
New LSH3 Edition 2015 career game features (in-game)
Playable submarines in Edition 2015:
Four submarine types in eleven equipment variants are available. Type II and Type VII now have an extended accessible interior. Various errors of the interiors have been fixed. The individual submarine interior we chose (controls, displays, bananas etc.) comply to historically verifiable facts.
The ports in Edition 2015:
Compared to LSH3 V5.1 various ports have been reworked or newly added (e. g. Constanta, Sevastopol, Penang, Soerabaja). Although not historically confirmed in each case, several dozen ports in the game are now protected by mines and barrier nets. For sixteen ports corresponding map views have been newly created.
New game units in Edition 2015:
All game units actively involved in fighting (like submarines, ships, aircrafts) are called “active units” by us. This excludes lighthouses, buildings on land, icebergs or dolphins for example.
Edition 2015 has about 450 active game units, compared to nearly 340 in Edition 2010 or only 62 in the original game.
New lighthouse symbols in Edition 2015:
The Lighthouse symbols were redrawn and their position in the map view (F5) was partially corrected.
New help view (F1) in Edition 2015:
SH3 is one of the few PC games which require virtually any keyboard key to completely control the game, or to play efficiently via mouse and keyboard. The game has nearly 200 individual or combined keyboard commands. Information about these have always been insufficient which causes that many players still play SH3 exclusively via mouse.
On patrol a fully revised help view is shown when pressing F1. It contains keyboard shortcuts sorted by subject, important data about all nations involved in war and information about “top secret missions”.
Fifteen new “information boards” have been developed for Edition 2015. The panels are sorted by subject and distributed across submarine stations accordingly. The help view (F1) makes them all visible at a glance.
The revised submarine control console in Edition 2015:
The console view has been redesigned and optimised from the ground up. Here the focus was on expanding the possibilities of original SH3 control console without negatively affecting the familiar game control.
The various advantages of the GUIs OLC, Six Dials Simfeeling and Multi-Slideout have been carefully analysed, revised and combined into the new LSH3 Edition 2015 control console.
For example the course display with degree accuracy or the new switchable large displays for compass and depth gauge for even more precise control with the mouse. The symbols informing about the current state of the submarine, revised battery, compressed air, CO2 and fuel level instruments or the five-step camouflage warning symbols are new, too.
If zooming while on the deck gun station (F10) a new automatic target and firing distance function is available. If a ship has been marked as the target on the bridge (F4), UZO (U) or in the periscope (F3) before, the target and firing distance on the deck gun automatically updates.
All functions are available for the aspect ratio 4:4 and for widescreen displays (as an additional GUI mod). If you don't like the big dials, you can enable the GUI mod “SH3 Classic Dials” or use the revised original OLC GUI 2015 of course.
Further revisions in Edition 2015:
All graphic elements in the team and damage management (F7) were refreshed. Among others the damage and repairs symbols, as well as the flooding effect of individual stations has been optimised.
All views in the torpedo and ammunition management (key I) have been completely redesigned and all types of ammunition graphics were redrawn. Preview images have been updated to match the newly added deck and anti-aircraft guns, the technical specifications were adapted accordingly.

Hi guys, so far I'm liking the mod, but there is one thing missing that I kind of want back in, il LSH3 theirs no loud "ALARM" das boot sounds when I crash dive. Another thing, is there a readme about the various events and things that are in the mod, like what was made for GWX? If not, can u, Urmel, tell us some historic le events that are in the mod?

Well, what goes round comes round. We have a long awaited release that helps maintain the interest of possibly the most popular SH release thus far and oh how quickly matters deteriorate into unpleasantries.
Don't let it be said I haven't given fair warning on similar matters connected to this topic in the past because I most certainly have.
I haven't downloaded the file in the link above but understanding the tone and the obvious context I will leave that to the original poster to decide as to its suitability and taste. Neal may have a different view and decide to look at it but should that be the case there is the risk remedial action may then be forthcoming.
I have deleted the link in #7 to the download but will leave the proposed fix in #9 to stand because that will be of benefit to the community during the early days of the mod release.
Suffice to say we are now at the point of revoking posting privileges should anything of a derogitory or negative nature follow this post.
I sincerely hope everyone can simply get on with one another and use the PM function to air any differences between themselves.
Do not use SubSim as the stage or vehicle for your issues....our community expects and deserves better.

The main problem I see in the new (and very nice) LSH3 is the lack of a HD GUI. In the actual development of the old SH3 the 1920x1080 resolution GUI seems the future way. A pity Makman could not do for LSH3 a MaGUI HD for LSH3. I must use the amazing Anhenerbe GUI and that ruins the pretty and functional menus of the new version. A real pity.
BTW I applied the Hsie patch directly. Not via your optional mod and activation procedure. I had constants CTDs with your Incorporated Hsie patch.

You are right.
LSH3 wont work with the included h.sie-fix. The problem is the included Diesel-fix, which crashes the game.
We have found endless bugs in the german forum under this link.

I'm also having CTD problems with the patch, I was patrolling and the game froze and crashed! Now my sh3 executable is gone randomly it's not in my sh3 directory! I hope the team can asses these problems.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the Silent Hunter Community. :yeah:
I do have several minor issues but I am able to play the game and it’s a work of art. I will list my issues below hopefully there can be a fix implemented in some fashion.
Issue #1: When trying to utilize the widescreen GUI I run across the “Can not initialize 3D engine” issue. I did try to solve the issue according to the manual however nothing seemed to work, the graphic settings were correct and the driver is up to date.
Issue #2: When using SH3 Commander I find that when trying to start a career it does not give me multiple choices for U-Boats only one. If I go into options and select use historical U-Boat dates I can only start with IIA, If I deselect this option I can start with only the VIIB but no options in-between.
Issue #3: While going through the U-Boat options I wanted to select an emblem but I only had one option and that is with the current flotilla are there no other ones available or is this a legit issue?
Question: Not sure if this is an issue but I noticed that the ships are not sinking quite as fast and some ships that used to go down on one torpedo now take two or three hits to go down; were some of these settings changed from the 2010 version? I didn’t notice any notes on it in any of the documents.
If there is any way you guys could help me it would be greatly appreciated

I completely retired from SH3 modding and even from SH3 - and thus the only tip I can give you (if my work really is the cause of the problem): Disable the fix.
Hopefully, there is a good assembler guru available that can help.

I patched SH3.exe with the original Hsie patcher and procedures and no problem. The optional Hsie patch and files in LSH3 2015 have the problem.

your "Diesel Damage Fix" is 100% o.k. I'm using it since releas of patch V16B1 without any problems. It's exactly as BL!TZKR!EG wrote the changed "msvcr71.dll" which causes the reported CTDs. I've changed that dll to the original msvcr71.dll from Stock-SH3 and the "Diesel Damage Fix" is running well. Hope this will be fixed by the LSH3-Team.

the "ALARM"-Sound was not changed since Stock-SH3 in LSH3.
I will try to give an overview about the Events in the Manual.
In short: Weserübung, Rösselsprung, Paukenschlag, Neuland.
See the sector "! TOP SECRET !" in the help screen.

Issue #1: In regards to the "Can not initialize 3D Engine" issue, I believe you are right and the fault lies with the DirectX 9 version. However I cannot simply install this as the dumb OS will not openly install it since I have DirectX 11 in place. I did try to download this work around that others have used but it did not work. The first link I was able to install but the second did not and came up with the same issue
“DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of Direct X has been installed already. No installation is necessary.” Then it quits. Any thoughts?

Issue #2: I did post earlier that the SH3 Commander was not working correctly and I wanted to retract this problem as I have figured it out.
Question: What happened to the torpedo damage or hull strength of the ships? I used to be able to sink many of them with one torpedo and now I waste three or more on a simple freighter? Did some of the settings get changed?

Hi guys, I've been playing LSH3 2015 for a little time now and I've noticed a few strange things. First, I was patrolling in the Baltic and it was September 1st and I attacked two polish destroyers and missed, the destroyers attempted to attack me, but never came close, were the polish really bad at ASW? Second, on my 2nd patrol, I was coming near the Firth of Forth and I came under attack by a lot of planes, and I noticed three strange things, 1st, there was no pop up box coming up for these enemy planes, second, there were French planes attacking, were French floalanes based in England for ASW? Third and the strangest thing, I came under attack by a plane with American markings, there were no American warplanes in England at this time and they were still neutral, what was up with this American plane?
I looked in the museum and the "American" plane that attacked me was a british De Havilland dragon, but why did it have American markings? Did the team encounter a bug and couldn't put on a british skin? The questions in the last post still stand.

Looks like that i will play version 5.1 until newest version bugs are fixed because there is lot of bugs and i hate to start game over and over again. one is when i try to sneak in scapa flow and many others but i'm sure you can fix it ^^

Avers, this happened to me to just replay the first patrol and it should fix itself. Not quite sure why it does it but the last three times worked just fine so again I'm not sure if its just once in a great while that something doesn't load correctly or what. Hopefully this helps

That is a bug in the FLOTILLA allocation. When you start (for example) at "ERprobungsstelle" on August, 1st 1939 and return back to home base AFTER August, 4th, 1939, at 00:00 GMT, you will get this bug. That means you can not click the "2. Flotilla" from this time up to September, 1st, 1939.

Thanks Rowi58, I know when it happened to me a few days ago I was back on August 3rd, 1939 at 1200Hrs So I'm not sure what else could trigger that unless...
I think I know what I did, I may have come back in time but I upgraded my U-Boats sonar before I transferred which takes a day which would have pushed me past the 4th.

Yes, happened to me too -- and then I could not do anything else. I had to kill the program in the Windows Task Manager. But then, I restarted the game and requested the transfer again and it worked.

There seems to be a bug in LSH3-2015 OLC / LSH3-2015 OLC WIDESCREEN.
If I activate the TDC (see LSH3-EMB-Torpedotutorial-2010_DE.pdf page 20) I can't set target range, AOB or speed because TDC still is in "automatic" mode. I first have to press Shift+T to set the TDC to "manual" mode.
In LSH3-V5.1 with OLC activated, opening and closing the TDC would set the "automatic" and "manual" mode on it's own.
TDC open: "manual" mode
TDC closed: "automatic" mode
I tried to compare menu_1024_768.ini between LS3-V5.1 and LSH3-2015 (is this the responsible file?) but couldn't find any clue... :hmm2:
Unless this is intended, it would be nice to have the LSH3-V5.1 behavior back.

hey guys, when does the 2nd u boat flotilla get VIIB U bats? I started a career in March 1940 and did my training patrol in the Erprobungstelle in a IIA and transferred to the 2nd flotilla, and I just got back from my 1st patrol in the 2nd and now its April, but there's still no VIIB to "buy". Also, I have "historic U boat availability dates checked in commander, am I not suppose to have that option selected?

you can only get new U-Boats in the "Erprobungsstelle". So if you want an new type you must transfer to the "Erprobungsstelle", selcet one and make a short training on this type and than go back to your favorite flotilla.

you have to be more specific for anyone to help you. post your loadorder, pc specs and what date you are playing plus the port you are talking about specificly. That way people might be able to reproduce your problem help you.

I don't know what this mod did to FM's Interior but i can hardly hear the diesel while in the engine room, changing the diesel sound file doesn't help, also startup sounds aren't working :hmmm:

Since my release here in SubSim Forum 3 weeks ago i read every day all your comments and statements.
My personal problem is… I’m not able to support all questions in detail in English language !
(For example: Shure HSIE’s genius Patch works perfect! We just add a wrong DLL into our first Version. We fix this mistake with BugFix LSH3-V15-BugFix_2015-05-28)
I read here about technical Problems but I’m not able to support/explain the solution in detail English language! (damn, where are my schooldays now :wah: )
All this is very frustration for my and Team of LSH3.
We will try to give your our 10 years SH3 Know how und support best as we can.
This means the primary German SH3 Supermodder Rowi (CCoM), Blueduck, me and all the excellent German Modder who still work every day on our future SH3-Details.

First thankyou for all your hardwork. It is truly amazing how much hard work has gone into this. :up:
My problem is that when I install the game I tell it at the SH3 screen to install the English version. I then install the 1.4b patch as the English version. I then install your patch and click English version.
Ive actually done it twice just to double check.
Game starts beautifully to the first splash screen but it is all in German.
I can enter the game and start the very first mission. However I cant read anything as it is all in German and of course the voices are in German.
Any suggestions?

When the game is up and running, before you start a mission or career, there should be a screen where you can make some global game settings ( look for "Einstellungen").
There should be the option to switch language, keyboard etc.

Yes yes that's it. Thank you so much. I just couldnt work out what the words were, and so it was a guessing thing
SH3 was always my favourite sim. Like three dimensional chess.
Number 1 place I like to play SH3 is on long international flights. And that is where SH5 failed miserably. It had to be connected to the internet. A bit hard at 38,000 feet in the middle of the Pacific.
Now I can play SH3 the way it should be played and on a good laptop with lots of CPU with lots of memory

I have found a couple of bugs / problems; the heading to view (= key) is not working for me, no order to set course to xxx is given. It does work on the vanilla game. The view to heading and get depth under keel are mapped to the same key (-); easily fixed with the setkeys tool (after you figure out how to use it properly), so just a heads up about this and maybe look into changing the get depth under keel default key mapping and associated help (F1) text in LSH2015. Thank you also for the link to the free download manager on the LSH2015 download page, I was trying to download the single LSH2015 install file directly through the Google Chrome browser and it would have taken 3-4 hours; with the download manager it took about 20 minutes. Same with the split into 9 files downloads. It also downloads ALL other files way faster than downloading directly through a browser; awesome utility / program.

In fact we was not able to set ALL importand language settings choosable by STARTER.EXE installation. we must set one language by default > it is german!
means; after Edition 2015 Intstallation (in english language) user have manualy set in SH3 game > Main Menu > Options > Text-/Voice/-Keyboard to language ENGLISH fist! (restart SH3 after that)
After STARTER.EXE installation in english we pretty shure that SetKeys start the correct english "Commands_en.cfg" by default!
Right now, we check your information about mabe wrong keysettings in "Commands_en.cfg" to confirm this it .It is not so easely for us Germans with German PC-Systems and Keyboards :03: But we work on it... right now.
Please; check your SH3 ingame Options, all must be set to ENGLISH
Check then your Keysettings again.
Check your default File "Commands_en.cfg" in SetKeys.
Please give us Feedback here.

I did set everything to english language, "Commands_en.cfg" has = set to heading to view; but it does not do anything in game. Using notepad++ to view this file; it shows in lines 798 to 802:

Thank you very much Urmel, I have noticed that there is still a lot of untranslated german to english (eg: crew members rank) and was wondering if the LSHIII2015 team is still going to work on translating everything to english, or it will remain as is. Not a big deal since they are german u-boats and crews anyways, but for us english speaking / reading people; it would be nice to have a completely translated LSHIII2015.

I have one question. Is this mod compatible with the Thomson Sound Pack 3.2?
I've always felt this pack has the best interior ambient sound but I am hesitant to change anything because the game is working fine and I don't want to break it. :doh:

That's because the UZO is not on the bridge by default - you have to move it from the con and take it away again using the keys shown in F1 help. It wasn't historically left on the bridge when diving. I admit it's a bit weird that the U key still works when the UZO is not on the bridge but it is in the con so I thinks that's an acceptable gloss.

Please do not misunderstand, LSH 2015 runs fine with me, but then I would have liked historically correct flags on the ships and in port. This should in any case can each decide for themselves. I want it just as realistic as possible. Can anyone name a MOD I can draufziehen over JSGME? Thank you.

Hello! I read the manual and can´t find if 20km atmosphere mod is included. I find a Atmosphere mod by Matz but not 20 km. If not, can I use MEP 5 with LSH?

is it possible to get a super pen MOD for LSH? I found one from ACES, but I think it´s only for GWX, isn`t it? Need help, need a wolfpack.

None of the game functions involving the shift key work. I cant raise my DF ant or the flag. Also I cant figure out how to turn the TDC off inorder to make manuel inputs.
Also cant get a weather report through the orders bar.
It appears that the problem is solved by switching the keyboarf language to German.
Bitte nicht falsch verstehen, LSH 2015 läuft bei mir prima, aber ich hätte dann doch gerne historisch korrekte Flaggen an den Schiffen und im Hafen. Das sollte ohnehin jeder für sich entscheiden können. Ich möchte es einfach so realistisch wie nur möglich. Kann mir jemand einen MOD nennen, den ich über JSGME draufziehen kann? Danke.

When choosing the English language LSH3 and all tools will be customized for the English language:

- In the MUSEUM some very few units partially show wrong technical single values
- The installation file (LSH3-EDITION-2015-STARTER-FULL.EXE or LSH3-EDITION-2015-STARTER-SPLIT.EXE) can only be executed within a folder, however not directly on a drive
- If an additional copy (second installation ) is created upon main installation of V15, the game links are missing in the desktop shortcut of the copy

Been off for a while but now my "Commander in Law" :03: allows me to have a look here again.
I'll try to pick up the last, not answered questions in chronological order.
Hi guys, I've been playing LSH3 2015 for a little time now and I've noticed a few strange things.
First, I was patrolling in the Baltic and it was September 1st and I attacked two polish destroyers and missed, the destroyers attempted to attack me, but never came close, were the polish really bad at ASW?
Second, on my 2nd patrol, I was coming near the Firth of Forth and I came under attack by a lot of planes, and I noticed three strange things,
1st, there was no pop up box coming up for these enemy planes,
second, there were French planes attacking, were French floalanes based in England for ASW?
Third and the strangest thing, I came under attack by a plane with American markings, there were no American warplanes in England at this time and they were still neutral, what was up with this American plane?- Would have been nice if you could mention the name/class of the polish destroyers.
- The pop up box might be disabled in "My Files\SH3\data\cfg\GameplaySettings.cfg" see "AlwaysAutotargeting=0,0,0,0,0"
- Firth of Forth is a long way for French planes, but might be in the range.
- 3rd: Yes, the deHavilland has got wrong markings. Will try to fix this asap.
Hey guys, I found a bug, i didn't get spotted by a destroyer until it was 0.3 kilometers away, it was night time, but that's still ridiculous that a destroyer didn't spot me until i was 0.3 KM away. - Destroyer name/class would help again and date/time in game would be nice.
I don't know what this mod did to FM's Interior but i can hardly hear the diesel while in the engine room, changing the diesel sound file doesn't help, also startup sounds aren't working
Anyone else having this problem?

The direction to the enemy is perpendicular with antenna direction... and why antenna is lower?
Reason - wrong Dial Controller was used for Radar Antenna.
Radar and radar antenna is the complex system and normal work, with using Dial controller, cannot be obtained, I think.

Testpilot might have had the same idea when he did his "new u-boat guns" but the plug vanishes just before firing the gun.

It's fast, short test of some standard critical objects...
For test I used NSS_Uboat7c with Turm7c_3_hd... I liked, very liked the texturing of the subs models... maybe need do slightly dark... I liked interior too... I don't like black ("without" details) "uniforma"... and I don't like the too overloaded (by the minor importance details) harbors... and too big number of ships don't improve the gameplay... FPS ~55...70 not good for my double GPU...
The cap on the barrel of the gun, you can remove by keyboards commands "Man_the_deck_gun", "Man_the_deck_and_flak_guns" and reverse command "Watch_crew"... This can be done easily and simply using my method of animation of objects through the management system of the crew's behavior (StateMachineControl). TP uses this method...
Don't forget to increase (in Main.cfg) the parameter:
[TIME COMPRESSION]
CharacterAnim=128
...
not less 64... because all animations in this method will be the crew animations...
For the AI lookout man (Watch Crew) you can use the stuff from my mod "AI_Crew for NYGM" with basic models and animations.

Okay gents....PM it should be as of now if you would both be so kind.
Have been using V2015 since it came out. Ran, but no wide screen and a few other problems. Yesterday, tried to run the update file. Seemed to work OK, but when I started the program, it would not run. I deleted everything and reinstalled a fresh copy of SH3 and redownloaded the 9 part mod. Reinstalled everything as per manual. When I tried to start the program, I got the Message: "The program can't start because d3dx9_42 dll is missing from you computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I reinstalled everything again and got the same result. What can I do.

When i load up LSH 2015 (most recent patched version, fresh install of SH3) with the included widescreen mod i get the following error behind the load screen "Menu ID not found: 0x52000000! and Menu ID not found: 0x520000aa!, and Menu ID not found: 0x52010000!" I have to keep clicking OK on the error and it eventually disappears.
Any ideas?

Hello Everyone,
I just downloaded the latest version of LSH3 after not messing with it since the release. However my game is starting to crash constantly and I have no idea why. Is there a crash log report when it crashes or anyway I could narrow down the problem?
EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention that I was in career mode and loading out of Commander. Crashes have occurred when loading the mission mostly right about to launch or shortly after launching from port within a few minutes (Time Acceleration of course). I save only when at port and not mid-game so three crashes so far when loading. Tried to created a new career and crashed several minutes outside Stralsund on first patrol. System specs are below, only other issue is not able to use widescreen but that was an issue since the mod launch.

Does anyone have any tips for getting this to run on a Steam version of the game?
So far, what I've tried is taking a clean install of SH3 from my Steam steamapps folder and plopping it into my C drive's root directory. I've also changed the game's actual directory name to something without spaces (since the mod installer says the install path can't contain folders). LSH3 will install successfully, and I can add the main mod in JSGME.
I can load the game just fine, but the problem arises when I try to start a career or a training mission. The load bar will get to almost the very end, and then the game CTDs. Changing compatibility and administrator settings hasn't seemed to help.
If anyone has any insights or instructions, I'd greatly appreciate it. I know that the mod team has said that the Steam version of SH3 isn't supported, but I'm a cheapskate and I'd rather not shell out for a more compatible version! :O:

Notice the number of posts on SubSim that begin "I'm using the Steam version of SH3 and having problems...."
Spend $10.
Buy the publisher's version of the game from Amazon (or another reseller) without the added Steam DRM.
Enjoy easy installation and modding.
Use Steam, if you must, for games you don't plan to mod.
There are other solutions, but this is the simplest.
I've solved my problem and now I see that beautiful mod!

I use Steam and have no problems modding. Those who use Steam need to know that most mods assume the game is in a Ubisoft folder on the "C" drive. When saving a download, Steam users have to use C:/Programfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common/silenthunter3/mods.

Then I change the name: SilenthunterIII must be fully attached.

Hey guys, I don't know if this is problem, but it's something i should still ask, I went on my training patrol and every torpedo I shot at the training ships, ran deep, even when I set the dial as shallow as possible, they ran deep (even when I used impact, and the seas were rough to)! I know that German torps had problems, but I feel like I'm having these problems more than I should, has anyone else had this happen to them?
If you are using H.Sie hardcode fixes, it's due to the Torpedo Failure Fix.
Where are the credits for this mod?

The eastern exit seems to be a bit tricky to pass because of two the doors there while the northern one with only one door worked out better for me. I find the sound effects of VII-B's flak gun too weak.

First of all, THANK YOU so much for the work you've all done to provide us with another excellent "supermod". :salute:
The problem I've run into is rather strange; when I start the program from the shortcut in the desktop folder with all of the shortcuts, I get this pop-up warning "sh3.exe - Entry Point Not Found...The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9Ex could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d9.dll." If I click on the "OK" button several times, the warning goes away and the game starts and runs just fine. But, it is annoying and I'm wondering if it will cause problems later on as the game progresses (so far I have only tested it, successfully, in the Naval Academy Navigation training course, using the Full Version and GUI Widescreen MODs).
Do you, or anyone else have any ideas on how to stop this from happening? My system is an Alienware Area 51 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit, i7 960 Quad Core, 12GB DDR 1333MHz Triple Channel RAM, 1TB SATA 3Gb/s (RAID 1) 32MB Cache HDD, Dual 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GTX 460 Video Card, with a Dell U3011 monitor. I have a recent dxdiag report (no problems found) that I could send if it would help.
Next, is it possible to replace the stock "cartoonish" officer faces in the data/Menu/Data folder with those from "Das Boot"? I have that mod applied to my GWX3 installation, but I tried to do the same with the V15 and it didn't work. I would also like to get the crew out of their service dress uniforms and into more casual patrol attire, using Raptor's uniform mod, but I don't know if that would cause problems and I hope you can tell me whether or not that would be the case.
One final question, for now; should the additional V15 MODs I want to use be applied in the order they appear in the MOD folder?

This only happens when any of the V15 Widescreen GUI MODs are applied.
I looked for solutions on the Web and found lots of "Expert" opinions and answers...most of which I would not try, to tell you the truth! Even Microsoft's "fix" (reinstall DirectX 9) wouldn't work, the installer discovers a newer version (DirectX 11) is installed and then closes...thanks Bill!!!!
Anyway, with a 30" monitor, I can live with 4:3 resolution and the two black bars on the sides; it's still a nice big picture. So, unless someone has a simple, workable solution, that's what I'll do.
Also, the officer faces I would like to replace are the ones on the Orders Bar at the lower left corner of the screen. The "Das Boot" officer faces MOD worked for the Crew Management screen, but I don't recall how to replace the Orders Bar icons with those same "Das Boot" characters. Help, anyone?
Next, concerning h.sie's patcher...it isn't clear from the installation instructions, but I assume (that's risky, I know)...the fixes noted as already activated do not need to be checked-off on the Options Selector...correct? [Never mind; this one answered itself. When I opened the Options Selector for the first time, yesterday, before activating the V15 Full Version, the selection boxes were all blank. When I opened the Options Selector today, with V15 FV activated, the "preselected" option boxes all had check marks.] Plus, if I want to modify the ini.cfg file to adjust some parameters, that needs to be done before installing the h.sie patch MOD, also correct?
Lastly (for now anyway), I have several MODs/changes that I use in SH3 Commander for my GWX3 installation; such as MFM skins for "Date" folders, WB's Combi-Mod v0.7, and some "Date" folder changes to "data\Cfg" files to adjust AI sonar/hydrophone detection capabilities according to enemy skill levels at different stages of the war. Do you think any of those changes would be likely to cause problems with SH3 Commander for V15?:06:

The crew-slots are fullfilled - there will be no more available places.
The empty ones are used for recovery, which is not necessary if you use the nofatigue-Mod.

Back in the bureau go to the table on the right side (U-BOAT MANAGEMENT) and klick on (U-BOATS / ALL) then you will be able to change torpedoes or improve the boat.

Hi there, first off, let me congratulate you on this mod, yes there are a few bugs, but that always happens in any new programme, the issue I mainly run into is applying the add on dials AFTER the widescreen gui is applied which is a shame as I like the OLC gui, but I don't like the dials up the side, I find them awkward to use, and a bit small too, I'm not as young as I was so my eyesight has been murdered by mass ingestions of Asbach and Uncle Jack, but I am sure as the mod matures, we will be able to make our own additions into the setup ( I hope ) I do have one question though, sorry if I am being a little dense here, when I lock up a target in either UZO or Periscope, I don't get any range, AOB speed info at all ( I don't do manual targeting, not grasped the concept, and I'm totally crap at maths ) so my question is, is this set on manual targeting by default, even if I do not have it selected in the setting menu prior to patrol start......also a clue as to which mods that are available outside of LSH will work ( sound mods etc ) would be helpful....keep up the good work !!

Hmmm I have done that, ie I have it on cheating mode as in I don't calculate my own solutions, however, when I lock up a target either in UZO or Peri, I get no course, speed, AOB information in the box to the right of the controls for unleashing hell, if I click the tick it does update the bits and bobs on the settings dials, all except the range one, which confuses me somewhat, as the range seems to be stuck on default 5000 m and as there is no clue in the info box, I am basically spraying and praying, I know that maybe I should try the manual method, however, quite frankly I do not find that enjoyable. and I am quite happy to have the crew do their stuff on my behalf ( I also throw Capitains parties and award sticky stars out to 'em for being good little sailors ) I know its only a minor thing, but it does confuse me a bit, as with any other mod, that info is displayed by default.....The accurate flags thing bugs me somewhat to, I appreciate it is a German designed and executed mod, and I understand why the OPTION for not showing the Hakenkreuz on the ensign would be there, however, well it just bugs me somewhat lol lol lol :arrgh!:

With the game options > Manual Targeting box ticked.
With the game options > No Weapons Officer Assistance box not ticked.
Lock the target L key.
Go to the WO icon and use the Identify Target icon.
Next to it is the Target Solution icon that the WO will enter all the data in to the TDC for you.
All you need to do is make sure the torpedo doors are open Q key.
Set your torpedo speed and depth.
Keep the target locked L key.
You can see the firing solution by pressing the F6 Attack Map key.
You can update the firing solution at any time by using the Target Solution icon again.
Press the fire button when the gyro angle shows 000.

I would agree, GWX is great , however, it is so difficult to work out which additional mods will work with which, I am still interested to know if any 3rd party mods will work with this one, sound packs mainly, and maybe sub skins. The Gui issues do need to be tweaked too, as there are some teething troubles there also. :arrgh!::arrgh!::arrgh!:

I have just had horrendous seas down in and around BF41 and have missed a lot of targets including 2 large convoys.
I could not hold the boat at periscope depth and was constantly moving up and down between 15 and 20 metres.
Luckily I had already completed my patrol grid objective in the previous game session.
I have decided to go over towards Brest and see if the seas are a bit calmer there.

I thought they were already aware of the issue with the use of the "addon" dials ie the XXI dials mod and the widescreen gui.....every time I add that in I get a CTD without fail.....don't know if its the same with the classic dials but it certainly is with the XXI's and I thought I had already mentioned it in a previous post, as I have also asked the question about 3rd party mods, at least twice now.

I am having a problem with manual TDC how to get the targets speed.
I usually take 2 ranges with the stadimeter a few minutes or so apart.
I next start the TDC speed and the stopwatch starts and I lose my mouse once the stopwatch starts.
I click on the mouse button again after a minute or so and the stopwatch goes back to zero.
I do not see a speed in the TDC.
I click on the tick and I still do not see a speed.
So, what am I doing wrong?

With reference to getting the targets speed I managed to get my brain in gear and worked it out this evening on a few targets without any problems.
I knew it was down to me but at the time it was all about getting the sequence right.

Talking manual targeting. I still have a humble wish for having a hi res OLC:s GUI with the added TBT mod (Tribute to manual Targeting) where you just by clocking the target and moving the central dial around the scope, easily aquire speed.

Hello all,
I just wanted to provide my feedback on LSH3 2015.
I don't know if something was fixed, but I downloaded the first revision back in the summer, and the mod worked great but I had the same issue some others had, where you would see these strange DirectX pop ups (about 24 of them) during the game start up. I know it had something to do with my graphics, and didn't affect the game, I just had to click on through all of the messages until I got to the main menu.
Recently, I did a clean re-install of SH3, and downloaded the latest version of LSH3 2015, and I no longer see these pop ups. At that same time, I also set my NVIDIA graphics card according to the recommendations. Now with the new version, I no longer see the pop ups.
Regarding the mod. I think it looks great. The way that 4G patch, SHC, HSIE, etc.. are all integrated into the installation is fabulous! This is one of easiest mods I've ever installed!
The interface is well done. I always liked the idea of having to make a "milk" run with a new sub. Original!
The graphics look superb, always loved LSH3 port activity!
The one thing I'm missing (or can't find) is the AOB calculator. That would be nice to play with.
Also, is there any way to add the Magui type interface?
The point system (in this mod and all mods) always confused me. I have no idea if I should ignore the renown or not. Do I care if I don't make it to the assigned grid? Since the upgrades are cheap, do I care about renown?
Finally, so far I have no bugs or issues. It's working well.

Your questions about adding some other Mods is not easely to answer!
Some SH3+ Mods works well, some other Mod will kill the funtionality of the V15 Installation.
There is no easy way to communicate and explain that.

Many thanks for this great Mod! I played with LSH3 v.5.1 and I'm very happy to play with this new one. I'd like to use the Thomsen Sound Pack. I read the previous posts and I understood that it should work if it only modify the sound files. So I tried to activate by JGSME after all other mods, but the activation never achieved. I only can saw that the activation was in progress by a JGSME message but there was no progress bar and the activation didn't progress and finished. I waited during several minutes but nothing happened. When I closed JGSME, I had an error message "the program doesn't reply" and I had to force JGSME to close.
I thank you if you could help me to solve this issue. Perhaps some of us are playing with this sound mod and could give me advices.

Deactivate Mod “LSH widescreen GUI” and try again if all works fine.
Answer this here.
The problem “missing D3Dx9_42.dll” exist about following situations:
1. Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 is NOT FULL updated by MS windows update
2. After that: Graphical Drivers (AMD or NVIDIA) are not full updated… after Windows update
3. After that: Original Game “Silent Hunter III” was NOT installed by original SH3-DVD by Ubisoft !!!!!
One of these situation is the reason about your problem (“missing D3Dx9_42.dll”)
Hint: Without original SH3-DVD installation windows can not create/set the correct working “D3Dx9_42.dll”.
Another copy of “D3Dx9_42.dll” will NOT work!
Give us more information here to analyze and solve your problem.

Although my base for testing was showing Stralsburg.
My boat was placed at Panang.

I don´t know the Thomsen Sound Pack, but in my opinion Sounds have nothing to do with the problem you describe!
When you use external Sound MODS only one thing is important, that a sound mod not the file "SH3.sdl" or other files except .wav files from LSH overwrites.
The problem you describe arise, when you made changes on the Sub or the crew BEFORE you start your first patrol in career.

I have tried to get this to work; but am running into get a correct path to load mod!!
I tried loading/installing from disc also but can't get 1.4 update loaded properly; says on sights 1.4 but when install application runs, it says 1.00.1.3; so game won't even launch!! Is there a sight that has a true 1.4 update that works. I have Vista OS and tried putting disc copy on just Program Files, not PG(x86). and 2 different updates didn't take.
Also, I have seen that some people have been able to get this mod to work with
Steam; I have an 1.4 version of SHIII on Steam, but your mod exc. won't let me put the mod in C:\PG(x86)\Steam\Steam apps\common\SilentHunterIII. If someone has used Steam version(I would prefer this) successfully, please give me exact path to use to extract Mod files. I am now almost 4 hours trying to get this to work!!

If your SH3 Disc is only 4/5 years old & didn't come with the manual booklet & glossy map & it says FOCUS or revival on the bottom right of your DVD case then your sh3 is already patched but if your SH3 is the Original 2005
Release then heres the patches from the Ubisoft support site
you have to download the right patch USA or Europe DVD or Download Version of the game

I have tried 3 different download sites for this 1.4b update; everyone says it's a 1.4 when I download, but when I exc. the updater says updating from 1.01>1.3 and game won't launch, because it says I need windows 95!!!! Crazy!!!
Here is my path for trying this disc. install, C:\Program files\Ubisoft\SilentHunter\. Is this sufficient???? I'm going nuts here.
I saw one person relating to Steam say change file name from SilentHunter3>SilentHunterIII. Anything to this????

I just can't figure this out; first off, Blackswan40, thanks for your efforts.
BUT the download for the 1.4b is not working; Again 3, 4 times now, I down load one of these for the disc., not internet, put in the path, and it says it's upgrading, but when go to exc. to launch game, right clikck and look at the properites, it still says 1.01. AND also when I launch updater exc., all say upgrading from 1.01>1.30(???). If I hover over the upgrade launcher, it indicates 1.04. I am going to drop the whole Ubisoft\SH3 file in
Program Files(x86), and if the download will upgrade there, because I have noticed the default download is Program Files(x86).
If that doesn't work, then I'll wait until tomorrow, so I don't scream load and disturb my neighbors. It didn't work, won't let me load mod, keeps saying wrong path, no way to load files, or something like that.

I was able to find a download(worthplaying) that upgraded the game in the Program files(x86) but game won't launch; going to see if this will now accept mod!! It didn't work, mod launcher won't accept any of my paths. I am at a loss,

I have tried 3 different download sites for this 1.4b update; everyone says it's a 1.4 when I download, but when I exc. the updater says updating from 1.01>1.3 and game won't launch, because it says I need windows 95!!!! Crazy!!!

To take a picture you use CTRL+F11
I like to take a picture of my crew at the start of each new patrol, 50 + pictures.
I am just starting my 8th patrol. (1 ctd to date)
The problem is that the WO keeps saying "firing at will" each time the CTRL+F11 keys are pressed.
I have looked in the set keys application but cannot see if there is a way round this.
Any ideas?

I have followed the suggestions from Magic1111 & Blackswan40, to the best of my ability. Right clicking on game launcher says it's 1.4. I downloaded fix exc.; however, when I tried to extract to SH3, said could not do, so I dragged&dropped the individual files into SH3 after deleting old files with same name. Don't know if this would work!!??
So far, no matter what I do, this mod will not load into game, either with disc. files or Steam. It keeps saying "Sh3 must not be installed in this path. Please install anywhere else. Spaces not allowed in file name or path." So, my paths are mucked up!!!?? So I hope someone can tell me how to correct one of the following paths; 1). disc loaded; patched 1.4 is, C:\Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\SilentHunter3.
2).Steam>ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\SilentHun ter3.

Did you have read the LSH Install Guide very carefully?

You can normally sail to your Patrol grid, made the 24h in the grid, and continue the patrol as always.
But your new home base is now Bordeaux.
It means, at the ending of your current patrol you must now sail to Bordeaux and finish there your patrol.

I finally got this mod to load AND work!!!! Magic, you observation that I may not have read the directions carefully was spot on. Once, I spotted how to get the path right, the mod loaded; BUT the first download of the mod was corrupted and I had to re-load. The loading screen for first mission almost through me. It took 10-11 mins. to get to the boat. But oh what a relief.
Liston, I only do this kind of modding once a year. I use the modding-for-dummies via Steam, so don't think to bad of me. I had to put my reading glasses on to see what the exact path was suppose to be.

I am having problems(cts) when the mission screen if loading, because, I think, I am adjusting(adding or subtracting) additional mod options. Even, readjusting the Hsie options box, seems to stop the game from fully loading. The screen gets to the boat screen, with the video beginning to fade in & the CTD happens.
Is the re-adjusting, adding/subtracting causing the CTD?; is the solution not to do any of this with once a career is started???? This my observation from 2 adjustments; one where I took out the bunker mod, tried three times to re-load, CTD, reloaded bunker, saved game re-loaded fine. Can't remember default for Hsie option, so present saved game won't load.
Also, can a player not delete older saved game parts, without, deleting all saves for a particular career. I click on the first save in(like "in base before mission 1"),(I was about to begin mission 3) thinking that's what would be deleted. However, I lost all saves for that career, and had to start a new career!!! If earlier saves can be deleted please tell how.
Considering it takes approx. 12-13 min per mission launch, these problems are taking the edge off the enthusiasm for this great mod.:rock:

Does a player have to check manual targeting, in order to have tools(like protractor) on the attack targeting screen?? I don't have these tools right now with manual unchecked. The tools are only on big navigation campaign map screen. I can get the weapons officer to help fire torps on attack screen, but I can't replicate in attack screen I have seen in YouTube videos, where the player handles everything. In other words you can't have it both ways?? That is, manual and automatic firing??

F5 the navigation map you have your tools.
F6 the attack map there are no tools available.
If you have manual targeting active.
Go to the WO icon.
Lock any target.
Icon 1. He will identify the target for you in the TDC.
Icon 2. He will put a torpedo solution in the TDC.
When the digital gyro reaches 000 you have the perfect firing solution.
Targets previously identified in the periscope view can be identified (useful in convoys) on the navigation map by pressing the map contact.
In the convoy rows you can see what has been identified and what has not.
In periscope view every target previously identified will continue to show in the TDC when panning the periscope.

Interesting point is that my start and finish base is Wilhelmshaven since my transfer there with a VIIB.
I upgraded to a IXB.
Did my training from and back to Kaseburg and then transferred back to Wilhemshaven.
Left Wilhemshaven in the IX9B.
I ended my Patrol in Lorient and not Wilhelmshaven as I was receiving various French port bases available by radio messages in my patrol.
I ended the Patrol in Lorient.
When the game loads I get a screen message "The base was changed to Wilhelmshaven."
You have to acknowledge Ok."
The game then loads in the Lorient bunker.
Strange!!!
I wonder if this is because I never went back to Wilhelmshaven and there was no telephone transfer to the French base?
Could it be that Wilhelmshaven is still acknowledged as my German home base although I can use other captured enemy ports that are available?

Hello mate,
the mistake was to follow the radio messages and go to Lorient.
Although the bases might have been available you will have to wait until you get that popup-message "New base: xxx".
If this happens during your patrol, the best way is to save the game and reload it (for some reason SH3 is not clever enough to keep this change in mind).
If this happens when starting a new patrol all is fine and you can end the patrol at the new base.

Hello all. First I want to say I was a LSH 5.1 player and I loved it. This one is excellent as well, because I enjoy the OLC interface. Great job!
I am having problems getting started with a new career and I think I messed it up.
I did a clean install of the game and LSH, leaving all defaults except a few tweaks to the hsie thing.
It seems that LSHCommander is causing some issues. I started at Eprobungstell... did a short mission to AO83, returned, and exited the game.
I then went back in an tried to transfer to 2nd flotilla. It said transfer successful but launched me at Penang.
Now after exiting again, and looking at SH3Commander, it shows me at 1st flotilla, I click the information and it shows Penang, Error!, Bordeaux, Error.
It seems I a have corrupted something?
I am going to do a clean re-install. Would someone kindly remind me of the exact sequence to start the game with a new career, visit the Eprobungstell, then get transferred to the flotilla of my choice? Do I need to wait a certain time? (I set my time in base to 18 days in SH3Commander, is this ok?)
Can I mess things up by changing things in SH3 Commander?
Is it possible to play the game without SH3 Commander? What will happen?

I don't understand what happened but it appears that I've really messed up.
I did a complete uninstall of LSH3, SH3, and re-installed from scratch.
Now, when running SHCommander, I see the original main screen (gone is the Eprobungstulle option!!).. only 1st flotilla.
There is ONE extra mod that I added, Thomson sound package, which I really like. Could this affect LSH3? It says it only changes sound files.
I am getting desperate and feeling stupid. :oops::oops::oops:
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

After my 3rd complete re-install, all is working well!!
I decided not to add Thomson sound mod, not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but my game is running great now. :up::up:
I'm NW of England, early September, 1939, and hearing a convoy..
Now my weekend is over, tomorrow is Monday, back to work.. I'll have to wait until next week to really start. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was told that the sound mod could not do that.
We both have proved that it can as when you remove the mod everything works ok.
Do not exit the game before transferring.
When you dock give out your medals and promotions etc, and then use the telephone to transfer.
Having done that exit the game.
When you load the game you have 2 automatic saves.
After mission
Before mission
Your game loads to before mission in the office where you can make crew changes and make upgrades.

I installed SH3 today after a very long break together with Living Silent Hunter. I had no problems and played a single mission ( not very well I might add) After Returning to play the game some time later after the computer was shut down, every time I try to play I get to the operational screen I get "Game Paused" I have now uninstalled and Reinstalled 3 times and still get the same error and cannot find a way to unpause the game
Anybody got any ideas

The usual problem is a missing time compression list section in the main.cfg in the SH3 folder in your My Documents folder. To fix it just copy the time compression section of your main.cfg in the SH3 game and paste it in to the main.cfg in the SH3 folder in your My Documents folder and save.

I love the way that LSH was made, a complete supermod with specially adjusted, fully compatible additional mods. BUT this mod is too damn too easy. In a tutorial mission enemy planes couldn't even harm me, they were dropping bombs near me so close that my boat was rocking from side to side without any damage. My gunner was downing them one after another and it looks like that they don't take any damage from burning engine. As far as I remember in NYGM they were using only guns but still could damage my ship and kill my crewmen.

Erprobungsstelle is only used for testing purposes before you transfer to another flotilla.
This is also done each time you upgrade your boat.

i have a problem with included OLC gui mod: when its enabled in JSGME, the game crashes after starting career patrol. It happens to both standard and widescreen version of the gui.
I have steam version of SH3, nothing else in JSGME is enabled except for LSH3_2015_fullversion and olc gui. And im on win7.
I'd really like to use OLC (after watching tutorial video), among other things because i was looking for a gui having one specific tool (i think its called AOB finder).
I tried MaGui before, but it didnt work either (with Grey Wolves mod though) :(
I dont want to try it here, because if it doesnt work, i would probably have to reinstall whole thing, which would take forever. OLC was included with LSH3, so i hoped it will be compatible :(

I think I found a way to be able to install the silent hunter mod with a Steam folder. Sure enough somebody allready wrote something about this but anyway.
The problem is that the MOD wil not allow you to install under your regular Steam folder and therefore you need to have an original game.
In steam there is an option to select which folder to install. Goto STEAM > SETTINGS > DOWNLOADS > STEAM LIBARY FOLDERS. This where you create a new steam folder on your desktop. Make sure you rename your Silent hunter 3 folder without spaces later. Now when you reinstall the SH3 game it will ask you in which folder you would like to download to. Simply click your desktop folder and your done.
Remember you cant install via direct link from steam as you changed your folder name without spaces but you can create a link to the SH3.exe
For me this worked.
To be able to install LSH3 I simply renamed steam folder "Silent Hunter 3" to "SilentHunter3" AFTER game installation:D
Actually maybe that was the cause OLC had some problems (or special effects mod), but GUI mod works now anyway (i dont care about special effects).

I tried this but it didnt look like 1920x1080 and also it had horizontal black bars. So it doesnt fit the aspect ratio of my monitor at all.
It also had a bunch of graphical glitches.

Then you have other issues.
When the game start to load before it hits the menu it should show at the bottom of the screen 1920 x 1080 widescreen.
My monitor is 1920 x 1080 resolution and it fits perfectly.
Even when you do the SH3 tutorial it is in full screen with no bars.
It may be a setting in your gpu needs to be changed especially if it is a Nvidia?
I would suggest you take a look at page 6 of the installation instructions where your problem is featured.

Mabe some important rules to install Silent Hunter III (Win 7/8.1/10) are helpfull:
1) Never use the original default SH3 installation folder (not by DVD and not by Steam version)!
The “Destination Location/Save Folder“ must be changed/select manually during installation.
A correct “Destination Location/Save Folder“ is: C:\SilentHunterIII\ (example)
2) After installation supermod LSH3 V15 you must set manually some new preferences to the (new!) SH3.EXE!
Select the > SH3.EXE File > click right mousebutton > PREFERENCES > COMPATIBILITY
- Set: run program in compatiblity mode for > WINDOWS 7
- Set: run program as > ADMINISTRATOR
- Set: > DISABLE DESKTOP COMPOSITION
Save this with OK/APPLY and restart your computer now!
3) Check your graphical driver settings (NVIDIA or AMD)
- NVIDIA: SCALLING MOD must be > ASPECT RATIO
- NVIDIA: PERFORME SCALLING must be > GPU
- AMD: Set > MAINTAIN ASPECT RATIO
- AMD: Set > ACTIVATE GPU SCALLING
Save these settings and restart your computer now!
4) Now start LSH3 Mod enabler JSGME and activate ONLY the LSH3 V15 FULLVERSION Mod (no other GUI Mods!)
As first test just start SH3 NAVAL ACADEMY and try a quick game to test your SH3 installation and system settings.
If all works fine exit the game and activate your LSH3 WIDESCREEN Mod.
Now start SH3 NAVAL ACADEMY again and try to play in WIDESCREEN performance.
If all works fine u can start a stable career.

For better understanding this tiresome topic “SH3 Installation Path”:
Any installation of original SH3 by DVD/STEAM/AMAZONE works fine by playing the game in original version.
The problem starts by using master tool “Mod Enabler JSGME” to play SH3 with a supermod (LSH3, CCOM, NYGM, GWX, WAC).
Since generation Windows Vista SH3 tools like JSGME or Commander have not the correct userrights/permissions to work fine.
That’s why following SH3 installation paths (into Windows System folders) don’t work:
C:\ProgramData
C:\Programs
C:\Programs (x86)
So, the simply trick is to install SH3 (and ALL necessary SH3 tools) into a other “Destination Location/Save Folder”!
This means you can choose/set ANY drive or partition and ANY folder name but NOT a Windows System folder (C:\Program…)
Some examples for working fine paths names:
C:\game\
C:\SH3\
C:\SilentHunter3\
C:\SilentHunterIII\
During SH3 DVD installation: Even by choosing only a destination/drive C: (without a folder) works fine because SH3 ALLWAYS set automatically foldername \SilentHunterIII\
If u already have a original SH3 installation here another Tip:
1. Just COPY the whole “Silent Hunter III” original game folder to another place
2. After that be shure there is no empty space character in the whole path/folder name “SilentHunterIII” (not “Silent Hunter III”)
3. After that u can install supermod “Living Silent Hunter III Edition 2015” – it will work fine
...

If u talking about our LSH3 Edition 2015 custom HSIE Patch and MOD solution... there is no needing to change someting.
After installation supermod V15 the HSIE Patch is full activated!
No need to activate the Mod "_LSH3-2015___Patch_HSIE-V16B1" in JSGME.

Then you have other issues.
When the game start to load before it hits the menu it should show at the bottom of the screen 1920 x 1080 widescreen.
My monitor is 1920 x 1080 resolution and it fits perfectly.
Even when you do the SH3 tutorial it is in full screen with no bars.
It may be a setting in your gpu needs to be changed especially if it is a Nvidia?
I would suggest you take a look at page 6 of the installation instructions where your problem is featured.

Oh wow thanks, that got rid of the black bars.
Also I can now see the "extended periscope view" with the attack view dials and stuff, which is really handy.
Are you sure that its 1920x1080 though? IT says its 16:9 but it seems low resolution compared to other 1920x1080 mods.

SH5 claim to fame is it graphics and you really notice the difference.
Personally I am very impressed with the LSH3-2015 graphics when used with a decent gpu.
The widescreen 16.9 mod plays the resolution at 1368 x 768.
The original format would be 1024 x 768 which would give you the bars down the sides.
I used Ahnenerbe's 1920 x 1080 widescreen mod in GWX3.0 and personally I still prefer the LSH3-2015 setup.

Yeah thats a good point. Im really excited for the potential this mod has considering its in active development.
I love the way that LSH was made, a complete supermod with specially adjusted, fully compatible additional mods. BUT this mod is too damn too easy. In a tutorial mission enemy planes couldn't even harm me, they were dropping bombs near me so close that my boat was rocking from side to side without any damage. My gunner was downing them one after another and it looks like that they don't take any damage from burning engine. As far as I remember in NYGM they were using only guns but still could damage my ship and kill my crewmen.
Is this true? One thing I liked about GWX is how relentless the ASW was.
How is the difficulty level in LSH?

Go to your > data\Textures\TNormal\tex and delete the two .tga files
German.tga
German_m.tga
You will see swastikas on the ships but strangely not on yours.
Yours is Shift + F to raise and lower your flag.

Downloaded LSH3 v2015 awhile ago and it looks like it'll be really good.
I've run into an issue with the widescreen GUI that doesn't appear to have an answer.
I'm getting the "Can not initialize 3D engine" error with the widescreen GUI installed.
I've already got the "Enable GPU scaling" and "Scale image to full panel size" options selected, but no dice.
Specs as follows:
Monitor: Viewsonic VA2406M-LED
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Drivers: 8.812.0.0
The really bizarre thing is that the non-widescreen GUI doesn't appear to be scaled incorrectly (i.e. I don't have ovals instead of circles or black bars on top/bottom or sides).
Any ideas?

why is it that in SH3 commander, the only flotilla i have the option of choosing is Erprobungsstelle?
And even the options in uboats are limited until 1941. For example I cannot choose a type 7 until '41.

You will always start in the Erprobungstelle flotilla usually in Stralsburg or Kaseburg.
This flotilla is only ever used as a testing flotilla for new boats and not for war patrols or missions.
When docked you should immediately award medals, promotions etc and then use the telephone to transfer to another flotilla.
After transferring exit the game.
When you load the game you will see there are now 2 saves in the menu
After mission> Your docked save.
Before mission > The one you are about to start
This before mission loads to the office where you can select a new boat if one is available, equipment, torpedo load etc and make your changes to your crew,
You do not have to start pre-war in a VIIA but can start in a VIIB and upgrade later to a IXB when it becomes available.
I got my IXB on March 10th 1940.
You should have been able to transfer after your first patrol in the VIIA to a VIIB.
Radio messages will tell you when new boats become available as the game develops.
I would suggest that you look at pages 15,16, and 45 in the PDF mini manual.
When you loaded SH3Commander for the first time (Before doing the SH3 tutorial) where you saw the VIIA did you open the drop down box and see if you also had the option of a VIIB to select?

My under standing is no you do not need to anything with the bug fixes unless you intend to use the mods that relate to the bug fixes.
In other words check the download page and you will see there are only 2 bug fixes you need to look at.
These are for use with specific mods.
(GUI Mods LSH3-2015_GUI_OLC or LSH3-2015_GUI_OLC_WIDESCREEN
GUI Mods LSH3-2015_GUI__WIDESCREEN-Addon_SH3-ClassicDials
If you are not going to use either of these mods then you do not need to fix anything.
This is my logical conclusion to the way I see it.
Personally I prefer the default dial set up with the very large compass which is a joy to use.

If i try to start a campaign via SH3 Commander, there is NO option for the type 7 for 1940 (the date I want). The earliest type 7 for the training flotilla is in 1941. That doesnt sound right to me.
I tried it your way by starting a career in commander with what was available (the type 2). I did the training flotilla, loaded into the game, docked immedietly. Then I requested a transfer to the 7th flotilla (which should have the type 7). It DID transfer me to the 7th flotilla but it kept me in the type 2 with no way of changing that I could see.
However, if I start a career NOT in Sh3 commander (as in, I launch the game via SH3 commander to get all the fixes it offers), but I start a career in game, I can select the 7th flotilla right away and get put in a type 7. Can I just do this or will it cause problems by skipping the "training flotilla" step?

Ok so I managed to figure out how to switch to the boat I want. Problem is, there were a lot of steps to do it.
I had to:
A. Start campaign in training flotilla via SH3 Commander
B. Load campaign
C. Launch mission in training flotilla.
D. Dock immedietly
E. Request transfer to 7th flotilla
F. Launch mission again, while still in type 2
G. Dock immedietly
H. Transfer once again to training flotilla and NOW i have the option of upgrading to a type 7. I then get all my sailors and officers, switch once again to 7th flotilla and im finally good to go.
Is it really supposed to be this complex? I just dont see what the purpose of it is. In other supermods you can just select the flotilla without having to waste time with the training flotilla.

The simple answer is no.
There are options in SH3Commander that can be changed but SH3Commander should always be used to launch LSH3-2015 by pressing on the blue tick.
Once you get to the main menu that is where everything is done from.
Personally I have not had any problems as I went through the mini manual and printed out just a few of the relevant pages that I believed I would need to refer to once I started playing.
These instructions were certainly needed when I needed to use a milk cow as it was not a straight forward docking procedure
According the instructions on page 16 (mini manual) "Career start before the outbreak of war" you cannot transfer to the 1st or 7th flotillas until the 9th September 1939.
Unless this has changed from the previous version 5.1 basically it means you should select to transfer to the 2nd flotilla at Wilhemshaven.
You can transfer later to the 7th when it becomes active after you dock back in Wilhelmshaven by awarding your medals, promotion and qualification, click on the telephone and request the transfer to the 7th flotilla.
Once the transfer is accepted exit the game.
Unfortunately the only game instructions available is from the earlier game version v5.1
If you come back and say that it accepted your transfer to the 7th flotilla before the 9th September then this will be a change made from v5.1.
I would like to impress upon the modders of this excellent game that an instruction manual for LSH3-2015 is now long overdue and this complex issue with the transfers and how SH3Commander is used needs to be sorted so it is understandable for those of the 9,000 who downloaded the game can understand how it works.
It will be a sad issue if the game is abandoned because of the confusion of not understanding how the game works due to not having a proper set of game instructions.

Another issue I like to address;
Got hit by aircraft on the surface and lost the boat due to what extremely fast filling of the electric compartment. Even with a fully active repair crew I had no chance. Boat lost at sea. Since I have realistic repair times active the stopping of leaks got impossible. Also happened when I took a mild hit submerged.
I find the flooding times a bit too short I e the compartments flood very fast, something that was reduced in GWX. In GWX the longer repair times is a cool feature but the flooding times were adapted to it making maneuvering the damaged and chased uboot submerged a real challenge but possible to handle to certain extent.
Does anyone know which files to tweak the flooding rate???:hmmm:

I'm not sure if I can release it, as I can see the makers of LSH3 have made quite some effort to remove the swastika from their mod.
But I can't see anything wrong sharing it to a friend, asking me with a PM.

No problem with us from LSH3.
Just be shure all the files are 100% compatible wit all our original V15 GUI Mods!
My advice:
As first work... just do a "Swastika-Flags"-Mod only for the German Flags.
Please dont touch the 1024x768px and 1360x768 (WS) background TGA images yet.
U can send me your pre-release Modversion for testing it BEFORE release!

First question, again; should the additional V15 MODs be applied in the order they appear in the MOD folder?
Next; I'm still hoping there is a way to fix this odd problem. If I install either of the optional GUI Widescreen Mods, I get this pop-up warning when I start the game: "sh3.exe - Entry Point Not Found...The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9Ex could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d9.dll." If I click on the "OK" button in the warning message box several times (exactly 29 times to be accurate), the warning goes away and the game starts and runs perfectly well. But, it is annoying and I'm wondering if it will cause problems later on as the game progresses (I still haven't ventured any farther than testing in the Naval Academy training courses, using the Full Version and GUI Widescreen MOD).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this from happening? To answer the obvious questions: yes, the OS (Win 7) and NVIDIA drivers are both current with all updates installed, and yes, the original SH3 installation was from an Ubisoft DVD, the d3d9.dll is in the main folder.
My system is an Alienware Area 51 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit, i7 960 Quad Core, 12GB DDR 1333MHz Triple Channel RAM, 1TB SATA 3Gb/s (RAID 1) 32MB Cache HDD, Dual 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GTX 460 Video Card, with a Dell U3011 monitor.
Lastly, I tried to replace the stock officer icons in the data\Menu\GUI\Layout folder (in the FULLVERSION Mod folder) with the Das Boot "OfficerA" icons from GWX3, but it didn't work. I would also like to get the crew out of their service dress uniforms and into more casual patrol attire, using Raptor's uniform mod, but I don't know if that would cause problems and I hope someone can tell me whether or not that would be the case.
