US Army captain has become a national hero after footage emerged of him pulling a couple to safety from a burning car wreck.
Steve Voglezon was going to the mall with his girlfriend in Chatham County, North Carolina, when they came across a head-on collision with one car already having burst into flames.
Emergency services were not yet on the scene when Capt Voglezon smashed in the car's front windows with a fire extinguisher.
He dragged one man to safety, before returning to pull the man's wife free.
All people involved in the crash survived.
Capt Voglezon has even picked up a new nickname after it emerged he was wearing a superhero shirt at the time.
However, the "real Captain America" has downplayed his actions.
"I was just in the right place at the right time," he said.
